How's it going . ever since I owned my scoot " since early 2010" I've parked the scoot during the cold months , which in Pa. Is usually from Dec. To early March . this yr it has been much colder a little sooner and I'm thinking of riding all winter " except for when it snows ". I use to hook up an inverter to the battery and plug a heating pad in and put the heating pad under the layers of clothes I wore. I'd turn the pad up to around 130 degrees or higher and it would work pretty darn good but it was sort of a pain to work with and I'm sure it wasn't all that good for these small batteries . the only time I'd use the heating pad was when the weather dropped below 40 degrees , and when December rolled around I'd park the scoot. I'd recently been riding in 20 and below weather the past week and found a good combo of thermals , hoodies, and wind breakers along with a pair of thermal pants and jeans that seem to be just enough to get by in the colder weather . for my hands I wear a pair of Neumann football gloves with a pair of cotton gloves underneath and I also wear a full face helmet which is a necessity in very cold weather. I'd like to buy a heated Jacket and gloves but with Christmas on the way I'm kinda short on cash , so I'm gonna try to stick it out as long as I can . Does anyone here ride all yr round in colder weather ? If so what steps do you take to stay warm? Also what was the coldest weather you have rode your scoot in . I once rode my scoot 30 miles in about 5 degrees but I wasn't really Dressed properly and I had to stop every couple miles so my hands didn't fall off and so I could get feeling back in my limbs , lol.

I moved to Southern California. Some drawbacks living in a communist state, but those electric gloves and hermetically sealed boots are a thing of the past. And with the change in climate your daughter might even stop kicking your poor helmet !

If you are serious about riding all winter up north, then think about asking Santa for some heated gear: gerbing.com/Plenty of other brands too, so shop around and ride comfy! BTW- Your avatar pic doesn't show a windshield. They do make a huge difference in cold weather riding, and they don't sacrifice performance much if at all (some actually improve the aerodynamics).

I use snow boarding pants , a few upper layers , full face the hat that only exposes your eyes and tucks under your collar . I have the gerbings jacket liner , gloves and insoles . If I could do it over I would have gotten the hybrid stuff not the straight 12v plug in .
In general dress for the temp of the day , then cover with wind breakers/rain gear . Keep your torso warm and yo can make it . Someone told me if your torso is cool or cold it slows the circulation to your arms and legs .
I have danced around the cold quite a bit . On the coldest days I have a one piece snow suite , a pair of sweat paints sweatshirt , heated jacket liner , heated gloves and insoles . I go outside start up the chinese 150 plug in only turn on the gloves let them get hot , then 1/4 power on the jacket liner . I have a 9 mile ride takes min 25 minutes without any congestion , 2 hwy's one bridge over the east river . I have done this 0 degrees . I use the chinese because I do not trust the vespa's charging system . Its a lot cheaper to repair the chinese then the vespa .

I'd like to find a Smaller sportier type windshield for my scoot . I've looked before but Really didn't see anything I liked . I could probably buy some brackets and some higher quality plexiglass so I could cut it to the shape and height that I'm looking for . I can also mod the brackets to get a better angle on the windshield . I def agree a windshield will make a big difference and keep the me much warmer .

John I def need to get something to cover my chin and neck area . that's one of the only places that does get very cold " almost hurts at times from being so cold " . my outer vest I wear zips up and covers my neck but it does nothing for the underneath of my chin . I'm gonna have to get some kinda mask that tucks in under my clothes. I could probably break down and buy a heated jacket and gloves but for now Ill see how long I can go without .

I was going to fix it let it ride now . But that is the style hat I use . I keep it under the seat . If the temp drops in the spring I can always put it on .
