I'm guessing you don't have a compression gauge ? you can borrow one from autozone with the 10mm adapter and test it.

Yea Milsc I thought the same thing, that's why I asked about the compression check... That will give us a good idea if it's been damaged..

Hummm did you increase the weights in the variator ? a JM seems a little small to me, I use a 100, have you done a plug chop to see if its running lean or rich ? Have you done a compression check ?

Hummm been reading this thread, and I think ill give my two cents for what it's worth... The Stroker crank can be a handful, I had one, I used an NCY 52mm bbk, 50mm bb head. 20mm carb, free flow exhaust, NCY Hi Pro cam, 17/49 gears, and just about every other thing you can think of.. My top speed was 60 MPH, gps and police verified..
However components had a very short life, I went thru a mountains of variators, needed new premium drive belts every three months, had my cvt cut open for extra cooling... It was hard to start, especially in winter as the starter was barley able to handle the compression when turning it over, I had two 120 cca batteries wired in parallel.. In short i was working on it alot to keep it running... I don't really recommend a strocker for anyone that is not ready to put gobs of money in it, especially if it's a daily driver..
Here's my recommended build, an NCY 83cc bbk, Ncy 50mm bb head, A9 cam, 20mm carb, free flow exhaust.change your varitor weights, maybe change your gears to 16/50 ( Test First ) .... This can achieve about 48 mph pretty easily.. But more important is you will have the torque to handle hills and wind.. Otherwise i would avoid the stroker for the 139 unless your a seasoned mechanic with lots of time and money to put into it.

Well Fawkes has a total 7403.6 miles, 4500 miles, on the first engine, 2000 as a stroker, and almost 1000 on the new engine. So far the new engine seems solid, no issues, starts and runs perfactly.. but this one is a long case, upgraded to an 83cc.. Time will tell..

Yes your making perfect sense, there are two different styles... Mine was originally a 22 tooth on the crankshaft, but when i build my stroker the crankshaft was a 16 tooth... Had to take it to a machine shop have the 16 tooth crankshaft gear pressed off and the 22 pressed on.
you can use either pump gear but if you want the 16 you will need that gear and have it pressed on the shaft.. In my case i had a 22 on my old crankshaft and a 16 on the stroker.. I could have bought a new pump and gear or simply have the one on the old crank pressed off and put on my stroker, and that's what i did..

Yea my bike is Insured. 125 per year is a small price to pay, I guess i em disappointed that an insurance mandate was not included. a 400 pound vehicle doing 35 can do considerable damage. Just a few days ago I read where some guy was killed running his scooter into a parked car in Logansport Indiana.. Didn't say if he was wearing any safety equip or not. Perhaps Insurance would have done nothing in his case, but bodily injury property damage, some child running out from between parked cars... Yea I believe in insurance.
MC's Well i have one, but honestly I was driving motorcycles long before abate was in existence or the state did anything more than plate them. It has it's merits i guess, but a scooter has a different center of gravity, and handles a little different, I would rather see a safety course geared more for the scooter than a general MC.. Just my humble opinion.

Yeah, it's not that harsh of a law by any means. I'm really surprised they upped the 25mph limit to 35mph, but then again 25mph seems a tad slow and possibly more dangerous? I'm not complaining. I don't think it's too bad at all, I like the raised speed limit, now you can legally keep up with most in town traffic.. I do think that is much safer.. My only question is in the plating, are they going to take the vin off the scooter, or require the original bill of sale with the vin... I have mine still but many guys out there with 50's who bought them second hand may not.... How is the state going to handle that, the same as when applying for a lost title ?

Just a heads up, Indiana scooter laws are changeing though some might want to give it a read. INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Come January, scooter riders will have some new guidelines to follow. Some riders 24-Hour News 8 spoke with say it’s a step in the right direction, but there are still a few kinks to work out. The new law creates a few more hoops 50cc owners will need to jump through, but it still doesn’t keep unlicensed drivers off the roads. “It’s really surprising. All of our neighbors – Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky – have to be licensed. You have to have a plate,” said Mike Tockey, Speed City Cycle & Scooter owner. Until now, driving a 50cc moped has basically been unregulated. On January 1, that will change. Among new regulations is required tags. Jeffrey Carpenter was at Speed City shopping for a scooter for his soon-to-be 15-year-old son. He says regulations are for a reason and believes it can help make streets safer. “They just want to know just in case of an accident or something, that whatever they’re riding is registered,” said Carpenter. Ask any member of the scooter community and you’ll hear story after story of theft. “I’ve had customers lose their scooter in the first day, in the first hour, at gunpoint,” said Tockey. “Even though you lock them up, people still come by with bolt cutters or anything and they still will steal them,” said Carpenter. The state hopes registrations can at least help recover stolen mopeds. But it doesn’t keep habitual traffic offenders from taking them for a spin. “Traffic offenders are still flying below the radar,’ said Tockey. The new bill will not take away 50cc mopeds away from unlicensed drivers. They will just need to take a sign test, have a state ID, get the plates and stay under the raised speed limit of 35 miles per hour. It’s a privilege still less regulated than most US states, but it’s something. “I think that the state is doing this to quantify the number of 49cc bikes that are on the road,” said Tockey. Tockey estimates there are about 50,000 50cc’s on Indiana roads right now. Riders 24-Hour News 8 spoke with aren’t completely satisfied with the law, but say it is a step in the right direction. Scooters with engines bigger than 50cc’s already have to have plates, and drivers have to have a license. Many of the mopeds, whether they’re 50cc or 200cc, look the same. Depending on how the BMV decides to plate them, it could be difficult for law enforcement to differentiate licensed from unlicensed drivers. The BMV says it has until January to work out those details. wishtv.com/2014/03/28/tighter-indiana-scooter-rules-signed-into-law/

I'm thinking that was the guy's polite way of saying Get a Harley and we can ride. Personally I don't like them, but you have those that say it's not a bike if its not a Harley... I knew one man that used to say there's only two kinds of music, country and western... LOL
I don't live to make others happy, I like what i like and make no apologys for it, If i can't ride with someone because they don't like my bike.. It's them that have a problem not me..

I agree a better tire would do wonders. Pirelli's are a very good tire, Fawkes when out from under me once when he was a stroker, put on a set of Pirelli's, since then have driven in all weather, rain, snow, fog, had to make a few panic maneuvers never has he gone out from under me again.. I'm told Michelin makes a good tire, but i have no personal experience with them..

Yep Millsc, NCY is the only one i know of that makes the matching head for the 52mm kit, I have one... Have never messed with really any head but NCY, still running the NCY HP Cam too although I often wonder what it's equivalent in the A series cams would be..all it said on the box was it was for an 85cc, at the time I was pushing 95cc + the cc's of the head.. So I'm guessing i was pushing 100cc .. I was unaware the ebay heads had stock size valves, that's kinda a bummer but not surprising...

May I ask why not just get the proper head for a 52mm ? I mean yes you can get the stock head to work with and extra base gasket, it will also help lower compression to an acceptable level.. But you will never get as much out of the 52mm with a stock head as you can with the bb head, because the valves are smaller in size.
I know it's an extra expense, but well worth it I think...
