Hi guys i have a gy6 50cc scooter upgraded to 100cc or 50mm bbk. I have installed a high performance exhaust and a carb jet. The scooter goes up to speed much faster but still will not go over 30. I have adjusted the valves to intake .003 and exhaust .004. It dose not seem to revup all the way??? any ideas why im not going faster?

Hummm did you increase the weights in the variator ? a JM seems a little small to me, I use a 100, have you done a plug chop to see if its running lean or rich ? Have you done a compression check ?

yes i am running 8 gram sliders and plug looks good. I have not done a compression check but it seems to be good. ill check it tomorrow. When i first put the kit on yesterday i got up to 50mph turned around and it would only go up to 30mph.

Not supposed to max it out until you break it in a bit could have damaged the motor.

Yea Milsc I thought the same thing, that's why I asked about the compression check... That will give us a good idea if it's been damaged..

I took the head off just to take a look at the piston and cylinder wall and looks great no scratches or marks at all.

The rings would be the part that would be damaged may not be able to visibly tell.

Looking fine and expanding out to seal or two different things. Put it back together and check the compression. Remember when testing compression hold the throttle wide open otherwise you will get real low compression.
And before you do this check the valve gap they may have closed on you and are causing loss of compression and check the timing while your at it. Alleyoop

When i say they look fine i mean they move freely on the piston. they compress and expand. I really dont think that is the problem...

If it went faster before you gunned it and now its slower its either the rings or valve gap.

I'm guessing you don't have a compression gauge ? you can borrow one from autozone with the 10mm adapter and test it.

Humm well theres the other way of doing it, putting your finger over the spark plug hole, and seeing how hard it blow your finger out of the hole... Is not very accurate, but if your compression is strong you can tell..
