If it blew your finger off the hole it has descent compression, so check the diaphgram and your variator. If the diaphgram is leaking it will not lift the needle out off the way. Also make sure the throttle cable is actually opening the butterfly all the way sometimes the throttle handle move and rotate and it will not rotate the throttle wheel all the way. Easy enough to test rotate the throttle wheel on the carb with your hand all the way and hold it there and then open the throttle grip and let go on the carb and see if it holds there with the throttle grip all the way open. How are the RPMs at top speed ? My TaoTao came with 8g rollers and I went down to 5g and it went faster . I blew up the " secret 63 " and put on an Air Sal 50mm BBK and yowsers it was much better with a main jet . Did you remove the restrictor washer in the variator ? Could be geared too low . My 63 it would say 55 on the speedo but it was not accurate . A buddy had the same setup and I clocked him on my Echarm and it topped at 45 mph even though it showed 55+ on his speedo . If you are going to make it a lil hot rod I suggest getting premium tires in order to be safe and ride good as they often come with tires under par . I got some killer Michelin tires here tires

Not supposed to max it out until you break it in a bit could have damaged the motor. I know how they say its bad to max it out, but with a couple of my bbk's i've maxed it out before 5miles maybe less and the've been fine. Long run (Over 2 years) I don't know if its a good idea. What i'm getting at is it will not damage the engine at all. The rings just have a less chance of seating well.

Do you have stock camshaft? if so thats your problem. I had the same problem with every bbk i've done. Put an A9 camshaft in and it was literally like magic, it revved nicer and got more power and accel through all rpm's. And got over 20mph top gain. I bet you have good acceleration but shitty top speed right? Yea you need the A9 camshaft. Just look at my signature, it should help you.

The cam is not his problem, he is saying he got it up to 50mph then on the way back it would only do around 30mph. Doing his Wide Open Run caused something to give. Like I said he could of blown his diaphgram and or his Variator has a problem. Alleyoop

just opened the crab and found a rip in the diaphram Congrats. Now try to find out why that happened, because it seems unlikely...... But then again I had a needle jet break on me and my bike has never been the same...HOW THEW DOES A METAL NEEDLE JET BREAK??? Its not even under pressure. But anyways, I recommend the A9 cam to really unlock the bbk. Its as easy as stock to install and is cheap, and gives you a day and night difference performance wise.

just opened the crab and found a rip in the diaphram Great, the rubber on the diaphgram are very thin and if they dry up they will rip some even get little pins holes in them some leak around the center piece that holds the rubber. The rubber gets a work out and there is quite a bit of air pressure in both directions. That cloud link I cannot see the picture, use this it is easy and free and the picture will appear right here so everyone can see it. Alleyoop 1. Click on this link: tinypic.com/index.php2.
