I'll lubricate the rim to make the bead come off easier Just use some soapy water to lube the tire. It doesn't take much.

Tires aren't that difficult to change by hand. The tool is faster, but by hand works OK. I always change my own tires. Don't use a screwdriver, find something with rounded edges (like a tire iron).

There's no "Owners manual" for Chinese scooters. You deal with each component separately. Most Chinese scooters use gy6 engines, so you only need to know about gy6's and they're the same on all scooters (except Vespas). The electrics are the same, and there's maybe 6 different body styles (they change the decals for each make). The transmissions/clutches are all the same, whether it's a 20-yr old Honda or a 2009 Kymco or a 2013 TaoTao (except Vespas).

Kymco (Taiwan) makes the engines for the BMW (G450 X Enduro) and also the Kawasaki J300.

I prefer a flat-floor 100cc scooter because of the amount of cargo I can carry on the floor, and I stay dry in the rain. Much more useful than a small motorcycle for me. Also motorcycles have complicated clutch/gearboxes and their carbs/ignition are difficult to service. Scooters are a no-brainer for maintenance and hot-rodding, & parts are incredibly cheap (new scooter starter motor is $35, for example), You can buy a complete brand-new scooter carburetor on eBay for $29. There's no motorcycle that is so cheap & easy to maintain as a scooter.

Both batteries could be dead. Motorcycle batteries aren't long lived.

Just to clarify...Channel 11, CBS network news, 2010 quoted the TX DOT stating that they estimate one-in-four cars driven on Texas FREEWAYS is STOLEN. Sorry, I don't believe it.

After weeks of trying to post to this forum (with no success), I found that this is the new version of the old ScootDawg forum. Which explains why there was hundreds of "viewers" but nobody was posting. Now that I'm here (on the new version) and logged in, it says:
You cannot create threads. You can reply to threads. You can create polls.
Likely part of the problem is that Google queries direct viewers (including me) to the old forum! It looks like the old ScootDawg and the new aren't linked at the message level. If I'm following an old thread, do I have to start it all over again on the new site?
Thanks!

You need to split the crankcase, but it's best to have the right tools so you don't damage anything. The crankshaft bearings can be fitted really tight into the bearing recess and it's easier to use an extraction tool, similar to a flywheel puller, rather than trying to wiggle the case apart, or worse, prying it apart.

Don't panic. It's nothing serious - yet it's something fundamental. No mechanical bits have failed, so you don't need to disassemble anything. Most likely will be either a weak battery or stale gas.

Chinese scooters don't have dealers like Japanese scooters. They're just different, with a different supply chain, and they're not a problem to work on if you take the time to understand them. The biggest bonus is that they're easy to fix and incredibly cheap to own and maintain. In this case, you're fortunate that Eton scooters have excellent support: www.go4itsales.ca/

Starters on Yamahas & Hondas can get plugged up with belt dust & crud, so much so that the starter won't turn smoothly. Open it up and clean the starter gears where they engage the ring gear. While you're at it, blast out all the junk in the belt drive case with a hose. This is a normal maintenance task.
PS: at 120psi, your rings are OK. When the rings are bad in a 2 stroke, compression will be way down and it won't start. But it's not any more smoky than usual

So now your carb slide is not being oiled and will get sticky and jam at wide open throttle. And your engine is not getting oil at part throttle, which can lead to burned piston. Don't throw away the oil pump and related parts - sooner or later you're going to wish you'd kept it.
