Re-posting this in the right section. Sorry everyone!!
So I bought a 2000 Yamaha BW's the other day from a guy who said it was parked before winter, and hasn't run since. He said it needed a tune-up, but we all know that can mean ANYTHING. It was however, stored indoors, in a semi-warm underground garage.
I got it home to get started. First, the battery was toast, so I replaced it. The bike turned over, but wouldn't start. So I checked for spark and compression, both are good. I knew the fuel would be old, but I figured it would do for now (I know, not a great idea).
I took out the plug and sprayed a little quick start on it and tried starting it. It would start at first with the elec. start, but it DID fire with the kicker.
So now it's running, but its blowing SO MUCH WHITE SMOKE!!
Could this be the old fuel and oil? Any thought's as to the white smoke?
Thank you so much!!

White smoke=water.
It'll be full of condensation after a winter of storage.
Ditch the old fuel. Change the oil. Run a full tank petrol through it, and it SHOULD warm up enough to clear it all out. After that, change the oil again.
If its still hoofing out white smoke then, you could have other problems.
Ian
EDIT: I just saw this was in 2t section: so yeah, just change the fuel and put fresh 2t oil in. Once it's warmed up properly you should be ok.

OK! Gas is swapped, oil is new, and now it smokes BLUE instead. A lot of blue!
I've owned plenty of scooters, in this is by far the smokiest. Is this usual for a BW's? I noticed that there is a missing bolt where the exhaust bolts on to the cylinder and there is a little exhaust leaking through. It should be two bolts holding it on, and I only have one. Could this cause excessive blue smoke out the rear of the exhaust?
Thanks for the help!!

White mist is water vapor , white smoke is bad rings burning oil and black smoke it too rich with unburned gas

Well the good news is the water is out.
The bad news is blue/black smoke=oil.
I'd double check that you haven't over filled it first, but the rings have probably gone.

Well the compression is over 120psi, so I have doubts about it being piston rings. I cant really over fill it, its got an oil tank.
Hmmmm

It was the oil! Still some old oil in the system I guess, cuz now it's fine. Just the normal amount of smoke :-)
So now, it's running good, it's not smoking, it's ready for summer, BUT! Now the electric start has become intermittent. It was working JUST fine, and now it only engages when it feels like it.
Have an idea as to where to start looking first?
Thanks!!

Intermitent usaully means electrical . I would start with the starter button switch as it is the most exposed to the weather. After that I would suspect the starter relay. If the battery is marginal that could also contribute to the problem. I have noticed that china electricals can be very weird indeed.

Starters on Yamahas & Hondas can get plugged up with belt dust & crud, so much so that the starter won't turn smoothly. Open it up and clean the starter gears where they engage the ring gear. While you're at it, blast out all the junk in the belt drive case with a hose. This is a normal maintenance task.
PS: at 120psi, your rings are OK. When the rings are bad in a 2 stroke, compression will be way down and it won't start. But it's not any more smoky than usual
