So, my 2000 BW's is very new to me. Is there any way to tell while it sits there if the oil pump is working or not? The back of the engine is CAKED in oil. So I want to clean it off and use pre-mix for the time being.
What's the best way to bypass the pump? Also, does anyone know what a good mix ratio is for this scooter?
Thanks!!

I unplugged my oil line from the carb, capped off the nipple at the carb, installed a pneumatic "T" in line with my fuel line, drained the oil resevuar, plugged the (old) oil line into the fuel line "T", and am now using my old oil resevuar as an additional fuel resevuar (extending my range). I mix at a ratio of 32 parts gas to 1 part oil. Good luck!

No, I'm too cheap to install a manual fuel valve on the reserve tank, it just acts as additional fuel capacity. It only works because the top of my oil injector is at the same height as the top of my gas tank. If the two were differant hieghts, a manual fuel valve would be needed (or you wouldn't be able to fill both up all the way, the fuel would find their own level between the two fuel cells and the lower one would spill over)...

So now your carb slide is not being oiled and will get sticky and jam at wide open throttle. And your engine is not getting oil at part throttle, which can lead to burned piston. Don't throw away the oil pump and related parts - sooner or later you're going to wish you'd kept it.
