12000 on the Tao Tao T3 and 13000 on the Vento R4. I think stock scoots will get more mileage than a modded out scoot due to less stress.

2 strokes are getting harder and harder to find. You should get one while you still can. Color aint important as they can be repainted to any color you like.

Scrappy dog scooters gots a performance pipe, check vendor banners above. Actually a performance pipe is not a absolute necessity as the stock pipe will flow enuff in my opinion. Whats more important is to upjet the carb for the big block, which is hard because tao tao carbs are EPA sealed to prevent adjustments. Probably would be best to get a new carb.

The cy50-t3 is a decent scooter for what it is. I like mine and as long is maintenance is kept up it should be fairly reliable. Valve adjustment is of course a regular maintenance item along with regular oil changes ect. I did notice with my scoot after 10000 kms,the valve adjustment has remained stable for some reason.

My CY50-T3 also vibrates in 2 different ways, the front tire and sometimes the drive belt. So far after three years I am use to it. Any ways I am due to change tires and belt.

I set my valves at . 003" seems to work best for me. Fuel filters and hoses are not great and should be replaced as soon as possible, and toss the torch brand sparkplug. And yes chinese mufflers do rust ! On a quiet humid night one can actually hear them rust. Most paint them with high temp paint.

My cy-50 t3 clocked up to 12000 km until the speedo quit. It still runs fine. Regular maintnance is the key to keeping a china scoot reliable and long lived. I kept mine stock and it will run 35 mph on a calm day. That is fast enough for my needs. There are plentifull performance parts available on line. Check out the sponsor banners above. As a honda tech I would think that you will find the china scoot a simple machine as compared to a honda bike and you shouldnt have to much problem keeping it going or doing some mods. Also there is a great wealth of knowledge contained within this forum as well.

Have you changed your oil lately? I would not be to concerned with light tapping. It is better for the valves to be a little loose than to be tight. These scooter engines have solid tappets, not hydraulic tappets.

I am thinking the exhaust is carboned up. I have had that happen before with the same symptoms that you describe. The cure for me was a new pipe and running better quality 2t oil.

Finally changed the 2 bearings. I thought it only had 1 but when I took it apart today I found it had 2 bearings. Now its back up and rideworthy.

My tao tao will do 35 on a calm day. My vento will actually do just shy of 50. Amazing the difference between a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke!

Coke is good for cleaning corroded battery terminals, other than that spilled coke is just sticky. Cool cupholder by the way.
