Hi, i am new to this forum and to mopeds/ scooters. I just bought a cy50 t3 and i have read mixed reviews on them but i dont really know what they are capable of so i went ahead anyways and ordered one. I work as a tech at a honda dealership so i am engine savy but where do you find upgrade parts for this like new jets carbs etc? What parts are best to get good acceleration and maybe actually be able to hit 40-45 mph? Any advice or links will be greatly appreciated.
Also whats the over all reliablility/ life expectancy of these machines?
thanks

My cy-50 t3 clocked up to 12000 km until the speedo quit. It still runs fine. Regular maintnance is the key to keeping a china scoot reliable and long lived. I kept mine stock and it will run 35 mph on a calm day. That is fast enough for my needs. There are plentifull performance parts available on line. Check out the sponsor banners above. As a honda tech I would think that you will find the china scoot a simple machine as compared to a honda bike and you shouldnt have to much problem keeping it going or doing some mods. Also there is a great wealth of knowledge contained within this forum as well.

The T3 is a good bike. Love mine. Make sure you toss that owners manual. Use 15w40 and keep the tires around 35 psi. I would ride it awhile before modding so you can gauge the baseline performance and stock reliability. Remove the muffler and repaint with a good header paint. Get rid of that stock fuel filter and check the rear wheel for proper tightness. Put bike on center stand and rest on back tire. Grab the front tire and towards you baCK and forth to make sure the triple tree's nuts are nice and tight. These are things I discovered upon assembly of mine a month ago.
Oh..check the valve lash right away. Mine were tight from the factory.
Drill out the air /fuel cover. Can be done while carb is on scoot but you need to remove the seat to get to it. The setting will be too lean from the factory.
Put in an NGK plug promptly.

sweet thanks do you know the clearance for valves by chance and did you replace the fuel filter right off the bat? did your exhaust start to rust and thats why you decided to paint it?

I set my valves at . 003" seems to work best for me. Fuel filters and hoses are not great and should be replaced as soon as possible, and toss the torch brand sparkplug. And yes chinese mufflers do rust ! On a quiet humid night one can actually hear them rust. Most paint them with high temp paint.

I traded my roketa for a t3 i couldn't ride it since it had a bent rim, a guy was bringing it from 60 miles away for a big bore kit and wrecked with it in the back of a truck. So i never got to ride it stock but it had a 63cc engine in it 44mm piston, i maxed it and replaced the rim after its fast can reach nearly 60 gps. Only thing i don't like is the slick uncomfortable seat

The T3 is inherently not that much different from the ATM50. If you want to go faster, you could put a mix of 10W30 and 15W40 engine oil in there; if you don't like mixing, use 10W40; 10W30 might work too, but it does wear out the engine a bit more. Also run the scooter on BP Premium fuel. Costs you only a few ct more per gas tank, but the performance is at least 10-15% higher, sometimes even upto 20% higher. Pump up the tires to 35PSI And for me personally, gapping the spark plug to 0.012" gave me best results! Aside from that, you can put a performance exhaust on it, but be sure you're running oct fuel when you do! (BP preferably); but the increase in speed will be minimal.

Use dino oil for the first two times then use any brand name synthetic . I used to use Shell Rotella 15w40 and switched to Castrol Synblend 10w40 Here is a CVT tuning kit to try various weights enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/14177743/prima-roller-weight-kit-16-x-13 I love how Dr Pulley sliders work better than rollers myself and since they are hard the last longer too

I have syn blend in my tapout scoot i put it in around 800 miles on the bbk, i've put about 300 more miles on the oil it looks like it just came out of the bottle brand new and performs better. I will probably go to syn blend on my t3 around 500 miles i have 15 40 rotella t in it now since the bbk is new
