Variator roller weights are likely starting to wear or developing flat spots.

Your roller weights are likely rattling. The channels the roller weights slide in are worn. It dont take much wear in the soft variator metal to cause rattling. It is mainly annoying,my tao tao started rattling a while back but still functions ok. Maybe slider weights would be quieter.

Well just about everything covered. There must be some resistance in the drive train. It dont take much to slow down. I had a bad bearing in my final gear set that really slowed down my scooter. It took me a while to figure that one out cause it didnt make any noises to speak of. I hope the problem for you isnt as drastic.

For the most part chicom scoots are simple machines. In china the prolly keep em running with bamboo strips and fish oil. If maintained they can be fairly reliable , at least mine are.

Replace cdi with a new one if it is limited. It is a plug in part for the most part.

2 stroke bbk are easier than 4 stroke. Chamfer the the transfer ports and use good 2t oil for assembly lube. Rejet carb as needed. All the vendors in banner have 2t bbk, ranging from cheap to high end.

Easiest to change the exhaust. Lye works too. Also you could build a big ole bonfire ,let it coal up and throw your exhaust in it and let bake till its red hot. That will burn up the gunk. I seen a guy use a cutting torch to heat up a exhaust to red hot and then blow oxygen thru it,but one would have to be very carefull not to melt the exhaust using that method.

I would use it with out hesitation. It is probably better than the Vavoline Multi Purpose I have been using for years.
