Were you running WOT when it died? no I wasn't running WOT when it died. I would say no more than 3/4 throttle --Jim

Hello All,
Due to my ankle issues and our horrible weather I have finally been able to ride my scooter this weekend. I put the battery back in, it was on trickle charge all winter, and the scooter started right up. I went for a ride to a store that is about 6 miles away and she was running awesome however on the way back she died all of a sudden. I coasted over to the side of the road and tried to restart her with no luck. My battery was strong and all of my lights worked and the engine was turning over but just not starting. I sat on a boulder on the side of the road and waited about 10 minutes. I tried again and this time she started right away and again ran awesome the rest of the way home. The next day (Sunday), I rode her to the gym and back with no problems at all....she ran perfect. So...my question is what is the problem? Was it possibly a clogged fuel filter that somehow unclogged itself? I left the gas tank completely filled all winter with Stabil. Or perhaps the spark plug needs to be replaced? It is an iridium one and about 2 years old. Sorry for the long story but I wanted to make sure I gave all of the details. By the way, my scooter is a 2011 Kymco Super 8 (150cc)
Any help, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

I'm Back !

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Yes it was unbelievable painful. The bones almost popped out of the skin and the ankle was just flopping around when I looked down at it when I was laying on the ice. The good thing is that chicks dig scars or so they say. I was wondering if anybody has heard from Terri Lee in my absence? The last I heard she was in the slammer. Lastly...can anyone please explain the dog bone thing? This was not here the last time I was on the forum. I assume this is like the bones that we gave away on the old "Scootdawg forum. --Jim

I'm Back !

Hello Everyone!
I has been quite some time since I last posted and perhaps some you even remember me. I have been battling a very bad injury to my left ankle so everything else kind of got put to the side. I slipped on the ice and snapped my left ankle in half. I had surgery to put everything back together using a big titanium plate and 9 screws. I was recovery pretty well until I started to get a horrible pain in my ankle and after much probing it was discovered that the titanium plate was pinching and rubbing against a nerve. I therefore have to go under the knife next month to remove all of the hardware. The doctors says my bone is now fully healed and the hardware is no longer needed. After this surgery they expect me to finally be pain free and back to riding my scooter once this horrible weather goes away....so please keep your fingers crossed.
Anyway...I hope everyone is well and I hope to start being a more active member of this forum once again. Please feel free to update me on what I missed in my absence.

Are they real Dr. Pulley? They are supposed to last many times longer than the 12,000 mile OEM rollers in the name brand bikes so at 4,600 miles they may be barely broken in. They are not real Dr. Pulley sliders. They are just your basic generic sliders that I believe I bought from Scrappy Dog. They worked great but I am just thinking that perhaps it might be time to replace them. How long can these generic ones last? So far the performance of my scoot hasn't decreased. I am just trying to proactive and plan for their eventual replacement. --Jim

Alleyoop,
Right now with what I believe are 14g sliders, I go up the hills with ease and on a flat straightaway I once got it up to 67 mph according to the state trooper that pulled me over. I only did that once but I can regularly get it to 55 - 60 mph with ease. With that said, perhaps I should just get a new set of 14g sliders? As my current set is over 2 years old and have about 4,600 miles on them.

Hello All,
It has been a long time since I posted here as I was recovering from a broken and reconstructed ankle. Anyway, I have a questions. I am thinking about installing new sliders on my Kymco Super 8 (150cc) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what weight slider I should try. I THINK the ones currently in my scooter are 14g but I am not sure. They work great but I just wanted to see if perhaps another weight would be better. I weigh around 196 lbs. and the majority of my traveling is on smaller farm roads will a lot of small hills and tons of twists and turns. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

scootermadness,
if you are encouraging people to ask questions, you might want to provide a phone number....just a thought

Yep...only wire and I agree that I got off easy. I just thought I would share my experience and see if anyone else ever heard of or tried using peppermint oil as a deterrent.

Damn Mice

Hello All,
It has been awhile since I have posted anything here as I have been recovering from a severely broken ankle, Anyway, the weather here is finally nice enough to take the scooter out of storage. I put the battery back in my scooter yesterday and she started right up and ran awesome. I checked her all over and noticed that the brake lights were not working. After checking things all over I discovered that over the winter a family of mice built a nest inside the back part of my scooter and they bit one of the wires in half. It doesn't appear to be a big problem fixing it but I ran out of daylight so it will have to wait until today or the weekend to get fixed. I did some research online and saw several suggestions of using peppermint oil to keep mice out of your scooter. Its sounds like it might work but I was wondering if any of my fellow peeps have any experience with this?

UrbanMadness,
I am not usually a big fan of two tone paint jobs but I have to say that I really like the way it looks on your new scooter. Very sharp looking!

That is an awesome feature. I would love to have that on my Kymco. I am surprised that more manufacturers haven't thought of it.

Welcome Back!!!
By the way...I am still using that awesome coil / spark plug cable that I bought from you. It is GREAT! It is the best made and most heavy duty scooter coil that I have ever seen and I would recommend it to anyone.

SylvreKat,
I am feeling great, thanks for asking. I went back to orthopedic surgeon last Wednesday and he said he was real happy with my progress and he put me in a air boot. So I am now walking without the use of crutches. There is some pain but not too much. I can move my ankle up and down but side to side still hurts too much. I am sure more movement will come with time. I just happy to get rid of the crutches.

I would suggest trying a 150cc Kymco Super 8. I have a 2011 model and I LOVE it. I have not had any problems with it at all and it is a blast to ride. Just my 2 cents.
