Sounds great trying to decide between this and a 250cc scooter.

I ordered a 17/36 taida gear set should have it monday, I currently run the 15/37 and the torque is a little too much, i actually spun out yesterday and dumped my scoot on my leg. I like torque and acceleration but its to the point of dangerous so i figure i'd go up on the gear set and convert some of that torque to top end. The scoot landed on my leg so it doesn't have a scratch, my knee got banged up and twisted, i'll be limping for a few days. I have read that the 17/36 will make it sluggish but not sure that is true with the amount of torque i have now i could lose half and it would still be alright.

You didn't have to remove that much just a small amount, id fill it in with jb weld or steel stick.

If your carb is unsealed and everything thing worked great before it sat for the winter no need to buy new parts.

I'm curious about this, does it use the 6mm spacer, shaved piston or is it a special jug to give clearance?

The koso variator is way lighter than the stock variator and the 1.5k contra spring requires heavier weights so 8 gram weights with a 1.5k spring and a koso is like running 4 grams with the stock spring and stock variator. I run 9.25 grams on my tap out scoot with the koso and 1.5k spring I weigh 185 and it pops wheelies.

I always put a new adjustable carb on new scoots with an 80 jet, may be slightly rich but safe.

Did you start it every once in awhile this winter and let it run a bit? In most cases of the it won't run right after it sit all winter I drain the gas, oil, clean the carb or put in new jets, adjust the valves, and change the plug. I call it after winter tune up.

I blew the head gasket when I had the ncy kit it sounded like an exhaust leak it was louder, turn the flywheel by hand see if you have compression loss. If so you have a blown head gasket replace it and torque the four rocker nuts to 15lbs mine blew due to under torque on the four nuts. I didn't notice power loss either but it was harder to start.

In my opinion the performance cdis don't do a whole bunch its more of a " I know its not restricted" type of deal, more for peace of mind.

The cheap eBay heads even the ones with matching combustion chambers have stock size valves, you will have to get one from scrappys or a ncy, hoca or naraku head to get bigger valves. I think ncy is the only one that makes 52mm heads with bigger valves. You will get more performance out of the stock head and a extra gasket than a 50mm head one gasket with stock valves. That kit is domed I got the best performance out of a 44mm big valve head two gaskets, you can't buy that though Buford specially made mine. Scrappy has the ability to make big valve heads in any combustion configuration from 39mm to 50mm since Buford does the heads shame they don't give that option a stock chambered big valve head and an airsal kit is a beast.
