Oh, good place for a question - do I want to change the oil at 1000 km or 1000 miles? 1000 miles would be kind of excessive. If it's running right, at least twice that would be o.k.

Just a brief survey-
What Make/model/engine size and type? Total miles? Any repairs?
I am trying to get a "guestimate" of what's happening in general with the Chinese scoots.
I have a Yamaha 2002 Vino 50 (japanese, 2stroke, air cooled)
15k miles.
No repairs. The 14year old battery still works. I've replaced two rear tires, three plugs, one air filter element. I'm going to replace the belt since I bought one a long time ago (at 5k) because someone told me that would be about the life of the belt.....of course "they" also said batteries last 3 years!
What are you all getting for belt life, batteries, ect?
Thanks!

If it were a valve problem, it would start fine, warm up and slowly. lose power and quit. ( like 30 seconds) That would be if lash was too tight. Too loose won't really do much but lose some power across the rpm range.
I would look at your auto choke. Also a NEW plug will sometimes give miraculous results.

I'll just state the obvious- your "racing coil" is probably faulty.
You said "the cdi does not get hot with the original coil."

Quaker State Defy has better protection than Mobil One Synthetic. So....use a good quality oil that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, and change it every 2k or so.

Hi-
Just found this forum. I am into all things with two wheels, and/or an engine.
Gonna go look around now.
