Hi all,
I currently have a Adonis 300T made by Riya in China. It's deign engine is that of the YP250 and Linhai 275. I've owned for approx 3 yrs and only done 9K. I have fitted a Racing CDI ( DC ) 8Pin ( 4 above 4 ) and is so much better then stock version. I've wanted to fit a racing Ignition coil ever since, so I purchased a Faito7500. When I installed and ran scoot for around 5 min, the CDI got very hot, almost to stage to cook eggs. I know CDI can get a little warm at most but HOT!!?? Anyone would think the coil pack would get hot.....
I'm asking if anyone may have any idea as to what maybe causing this? I have checked stator wires and reg/rectifier is a sweet 14v running.. CDI does not get hot with original Ignition coil. Everything runs as it should only better response time on accelerator, but the CDI is bloody hot, maybe around 45-55 DEG Celsius.

I'll just state the obvious- your "racing coil" is probably faulty.
You said "the cdi does not get hot with the original coil."

I have found that getting a matched set Coil and CDI usually works best. That way the vendor is responsible if part of the system is defective or the components are not really compatible.
Racing coil is either defective or not compatible with your CDI.
