Still a good idea to have a little seafoam to add to ever gas up.

I think your BMS will convert pretty easily and well. It is a water cooled engine that should set up and run well . However, I think Rocky is right. Most of us are better all focusing on getting and keeping a good job/business/profession and buying carefully. Lots of good EFI scoots out there used for low prices and they tend to be good for wellover 30,000 miles. My 440CC 06 had well under 7K on it when I bought it 2 years ago for $2600 Still a jewel with past 11K. Only scratches are mine.
Take your time , enjoy what youhave while youfigure out your next move.
good luck.

Welcome to our world. I sill hope to visit yours before I die. Always been one of my dreams (along with something about Marilyn)
But that piston is not your biggest problem, Tell me about the cylinder. Have a good auto machine shop measure it and examine it carefully. Also you need the crankshaft and con rod measured and checked too. I'll bit is t is old 2T technology with 1:25 oil/fuel ratio spewing a nice generous blue smoke tail.
I would stop and regroup before I put any money out. This is a 40 year old 50 cc 2 stroke machine, You are taking about under 5 hp pulling a 3 wheeler. I probably uses either a mechanical clutch and 2 or 3 gears or a centrifugal clutch and fixed gearing all of which is highly suspect.. At best it is a 23-30mph machine. Only 2000 were build because it performed very poorly and were not much fun. It also probably did not last well. Think about it. The busted ring may be telling you far more that you are hearing.
Sorry to rain on your parade. I suspect its highest value it not fun transportation
If you are still determined to rebuild that engine, I would get to work and try to find a mechanic in Vietnam to ship it to and let him make the parts and rebuild it right. Be cheapest. Put in a little overtime and hire a pro.
Cheers

Congratulatons. Very sincerly, you are thinking good. Glad you are starting to make a decent wage and having success at work. Make continuing to be a success at work a high priority. The rest will be easy to take care of. The constant valve adjustment thing of China Air Cooled scoots will settle donw after awile. aparently you have found a decent scoot mechanic that takes care of your scoot promptly. You will find the better China scoots are far more reliable and the water cooled 150 - 250 's far more reliable. And of course someof the new EFI equipted scoots are even better. It is not that the are china built, it is that many of them are cheaply built, poorly services , fly by night brands. Honda's are gear scoots. built in china too. It is not china itis cheap. I remember when Japan stuff was often poorly built.
I like your thinking about saving a bit and workig out a deal. Take you time. Nothing wrong with offering a low price. nothing wrong offering less than you think hw will take. Gradually you will develope knowledge and confitence. I ride an 06 Yamaha Majest I bought 2 years age with under 6000 miles, not a scratch on it. The fellow was asking $2600. Have not spend more than $ 30 since for another 5000 trouble free miles. I still have not installed the new tires I bought for it. So - welcome to the group.
I am sort of cautious with European production. I love the stying and handlening and preformance, but check out consumers reports on cars. European reliability often trail American and Japanese and Korean ( all of which use a lost of south american and Chineses parts and components.. I love Italy and Italian machines, but I would prefer to have a good italian mechanic to keep it going.
Cheer

I would run not walk to replace your upgrade filter with a real original filter system used on the Burgmen. Seriously man, this is a great forum for friendly chat but it is not Burgman USA. Of course you know your are riding one of the highest perfomimg scoots sold in the USA. Keep it stock until you know a lot more about what you are doing.

I ride a cousin - Yamaha 400 Sometimes I like it better, Soomtimes I like your scoot better.

It may be bulletproof, but no stock 50cc 4 t is a rocket ship. welcome. Take you time if you are scoot looking. You will learn that an aw full lot of guys with 250s are trying to find ways to make them run faster. So a scoot with 1/5 the engine displacement but low compression and air cooled putting out even less power, is a pretty feeble toy if you get anywhere near real traffic.
Stay safe my new friend.

skuttadog is right. Bogging is almost always a fuel problem. But this may be the exception to the rule. Not all aftermarket stuff is as high grade as the seller tells you it is. If it runs like a dream with original equipment I would have a very serious conversation with myself and the guy who sold me stuff that works worse. If you hae not figured out what the converstation with myself would be, follow my posts awile and you will get the drift.
lots of luck

Hey I don't care how you get to EFI, but after having it on my cars and outboards, I had to get rid of the carb on my scoot. I found the easiest way for me to go was some overtime and a used 400with EFI. I think we ought to have a Forum that was 100% EFI. I would enjoy hearing about the conversions as much as any topic here. Rockvnv's comment leads me to wonder if if would be wise to consider raising the compression ratio a notch or two.

First what are you riding? Have you taken the Motorcycle endorsement course? Has anyone a lottle more experience riden your scoot. I am wondering if perhaps your scoot is not quiet right. Sounds like it might be a little squirly. But you instincts are right. Believe me it take nothing to couss you hurt. A peble in the rong place can tumble you. A small handful of sand. Even just a trivial rut. So tgake you time, be careful. wear good protective gear and enjoy.
Good luck. Do not rush getting on the freeway or on high speed streets. Avoid rush hours and night riding for now.
Good lousk and keep in touch. But please get an experience rider to ride you scoot and make sure it is not got a handleing problem.

It should handle a good 50 mile trip regularly but I would not want to run it much over 55 real MPG for more tha t a few minutes at a time if I wante it to last. I would also want to run it a little richer that stook if I woere running it any harder than that. It is water cooled so it will not be a fragile as an Air cooled scoot.
Good scoot for longer rides.
