A local dealer has one of these, used...it's a "TBX 260 XY260T-4". It's Chinese, and it's BIG; it's as long as the motorcycles parked next to it. So...anyone familiar with it? From the model, I expect it's a 260cc, which I figure is liquid-cooled...right? I'm figuring this would be highway-capable, yes?

The 08 models have carburetor, the 2011+ models have fuel injection. 08: ~65-70MPG, ~75MPH 11: ~75-82MPG, ~83MPH on speedo, 80MPH GPS
Even a 150 is highway capable.
I'm familiar with it; if you have any questions, fire away.. I've had a 2012 BMS TXB260 EFI for a while.

Questions...when did they switch to EFI? I think this one is a 2009 or 2010. Do they have rear discs...I forgot to look. Would it hold up to a 50-mile (round trip) commute? Any idea what I should pay for it?

It should handle a good 50 mile trip regularly but I would not want to run it much over 55 real MPG for more tha t a few minutes at a time if I wante it to last. I would also want to run it a little richer that stook if I woere running it any harder than that. It is water cooled so it will not be a fragile as an Air cooled scoot.
Good scoot for longer rides.

The 2011 models and newer have EFI All of them have rear disc I've done a 100 mile trip, and several 50 mile trips on them. I even done a 220mile trip on my ATM50 (50 cc scooter), so don't worry about that. It's water cooled so... $1600 is new price for the carb version. If they have the adjustable rear mono suspension, they go anywhere from $1800-2200 new (that is without shipping and title). The EFI with adjustable rear monoshock, and better disc brake is $2600; with shipping, taxes, tag license and paperwork it was just under $3000.
I ran the EFI for 20 minutes on WOT without problems (80MPH), and the 50 mile trips avg 60MPH. It does 75MPH all day.

A used scooter depends on the mileage, and how much you are willing to pay for it. Also on how many of that type are there available in your surrounding?
I wouldn't pay more than the following: A 260 with lower than 2k miles is as good as new, and probably costs you ~80% of the new price. 2-6k miles, probably around 2/3rd of the new price. 6-15k miles is used, ~50-60% of the new price. 25+k miles, is very used, and ~50% of the new price. The problem is that prices get so low, that at those miles, usually people just sell the parts.
40+k miles probably is a risktaker, I wouldn't pay more than 1/3rd of the new price for that!

Are you talking about this bike? www.bmsmotor.com/scooter/product_30_TBX_260.htmlA little underpowered for a fuel injected 260 at 14.75 hp. Basically Burgman body style with a Yamaha Majesty 260 style drive train. For a comparison a 249 cc Aprilia developes around 22 to 25 hp. Depending on price and how it was originally maintained by the first owner it could be a good buy. Too many buy them and run them (ruin) on the shipping fluids making them a bad investment. Every fluid that is in them should be changed out before riding them which too many folks do not do greatly reducing the bike usefull lifespan.

Extreme Motor Sales in Orlando has them for $3,299. Seems excessive since my Aprilia Sport City was selling on factory special for $2,999 this past fall. The TBX 260 XY260T-4 from Extreme is listed with a 3 year warranty which could add value if it is transferrable.

Those bikes have low HP, because they have hydraulic valves; meaning you'll probably never need to do a valve adjustment in the course of the bike's lifetime. The only con is, that it takes a lot of HP to have that feat.
Yet, the bike is capable of going 75MPH, which is quite a feat!

With carb or EFI; and the carb versions come with mono-rear-suspension, or the regular dual shocks. (EFI only comes with mono rear suspension). They probably sell the newer 2011-2013 version, instead of the 2008. The newer one has Fuel injection.
