Bali 250

Well, rode my scooter out to a friend's, to place in his building for the winter and now it will not start. It turns over, but is not getting gas. The scooter is going on 11 years old and nothing has been done to the carburetor in at least 10 years. So I bought a brand new carburetor for the CN250. Got new fuel lines and filter. When have time in about 3 weeks, will change the carburetor. Should get gas than. I also am thinking of buying a 50cc scooter new, from a dealer. It will be another Chinese scoot. The CY50 A Taotao scooter for $421 +$199 shipping. This will be my little toy to ride around town on and save my Bali 250 for highway riding. See, on my Bali 250 it takes a motorcycle license, registration, motorcycle insurance, and on the 50cc scoot it only requires a normal vehicle license, no registration or insurance. I have renters insurance that will cover the 50cc scooter if stolen or damaged in fire, storm. If I have an accident( say I hit a pedestrian or it falls over and scratches a new car) well my insurance would not cover me but only the damage done to private property or a pedestrian. Renters insurance by Missouri Statutes 307.180.2.. Others would have to look up own rules for their own State.

Yes, also like the idea of your emergency flashers. They should have thought that up on every 50cc scooter, since they are highway legal. I mean, if you took it on the highway, well that would warn cars that you are a slow moving vehicle aloud on highways. Where like on the scoot I want, does not have them.

Ya, a lot of fun. It looks pretty mean looking. Big rims, dirt tires, cool body style. I am going to buy one similar to your old scoot, in about 2 months. It will be bblue or black, in the crate still. But it will always be stocked parts. Well enjoy your new scoot. Cool..

How good are these little scooters. Are they decent.. My friend owned one and it went pretty quick. Fast enough. I think my scooter, I will leave original parts. Only do 30 to 35 MPH. I own a 250 Bali scooter that rides 65 mph . Want the 50cc to putt around town on and maybe ride on back roads to Walmart in Owensville MO.. Just a basic fun thing to do, when the sun it out and feel like adventuring for a ride. My 250 Bali is 10 years old and I feel like riding something newer too. Save the 250 for a ride with my wife on her Honda Rebel. Thanks for the help..

Well, I did not know that in Missouri, the State does not follow DOT guide lines. Yes, to the State, it only requires one to wear a helmet, but the helmet does not have to be DOT approved. Crazy. But any smart rider, would make sure of the correct specs for safety purposes. But Illinois don't require a helmet at all. Makes no sense.

Ya, my stator burned out, so it was easy to tell the issue. But I went ahead and replaced the cdi box, the diode, rectifier, to make sure one of these was not the original coprate, of why the stator burned up. Parts costed around $130 + new water pump, oil and antifreeze. It starts fine now and running like a champ. Mine is a Chinese scoot MC 13 250 Bali scooter. Your scooter is a more expensive parts. Good luck..

My Bali 250 last Spring had a bad stator. So not having the time or resources to fix it, I let it sit through Spring and Fall. I got the stator in the Fall and other parts that could be bad too. Like I knew I would need a new water pump, gaskets, gasket sealer, bought a few new electric components, ect. so I would be prepared for parts being bad. I fixed it in the late winter, at about 40 degrees in the garage. It started right on up, apon fixing it. Been riding out to friends home, on a country highway. Scooter is now 10 years old and running great. All scooters will give a person some troubles. It is called wear and tear.

I will replace the also. It was not that. It was a rattle noise in engine. At times it got louder and softer but still a strange sound. I eliminated the head and compression, because it still rode at 65 MPH. Well, today my new starter went out again, after using only one month. I took off starter and placed my finger in, where Bendix went. Could wiggle the starter clutch, pretty easily. 7.5 yrs of riding and now it is time to replace some old parts. Will order a new starter clutch, water pump, oil pump and cdi. Something tells me, that the starter clutch was going out, for some time. 4 starters since buying new and the third starter gave me problems but still made last three years by not pressing starter button longer than 2 seconds. Might want to replace a few more parts, just to make sure don't have to go back in for a while. About $300 in new parts. A new starter clutch is $50. Cdi is $100, water pump is $30, oil pump $20, gasket $4, oil pump chain is $15. $50 new starter motor.

Not really...But ordered a new starter, about 1 month ago. The starter is bad again.. but that is the least of my problems. I reached inside where the Bendix goes and discovered the starter clutch wiggles. Yes, I am going to have to replace it. I have been searching for a funny engine noise and think the starter clutch is that funny noise. It is like at times is squeeked, other times made a rattle. Thinking of replacing starter clutch, oil pump and chain, water pump, and cdi. See, my belief is only go into the engine once. Replace as many parts as possible while in there. This is my friend's Suzuki.

I live in Missouri, but am south of Jefferson City, in a small town name Belle. It is actually closer to St Louis.

Well, that is a good tip. A lot of dump trucks in Missouri, don't cover their loads. I ride a Bali scooter with a cn250 engine. When riding in town, speed limit is 25 to 35 MPH.... so I wear my helmet and blue jeans, long sleeve shirt, gloves, and boot. But on the highway I always grab my leather jacket. I also have full coverage insurance that will help replace scooter cost and up to $50,000 if injured. It is only $18 per month for full coverage insurance on the Bali 250. In town riding is a lot of stopping for stop signs. Riding on the highway is more dangerous, because one could have a blowout, a car could swerve into your lane, tailgaters could be anxious to pass and pass in unsafe areas. A lot more to watch out for on the highway.

Welcome to the forum.. I don't have a TBX 260. I would imagine one needs a feeler guage and take off the head to adjust valves. More complex then my CN250 engine.

I seen my son's feet after wearing flip flops, shorts and a T-shirt. Was not a pretty picture, on his 49cc scoot. He was 18 years old and would not take advice from me nor my wife. After crashing, he thought maybe mom and pop know a little more than me. A 20 MPH accident can do a lot of damage to his feel, legs and arms. Hard lesson.
