Hi All.
I'm not too handy but my brother in law helped me replace both the stator (I had bought a new one a while back), and the starter motor. Well, he took out the old starter motor, then he had to go back to California.
I replaced the starter motor, and reconnected the wire but it's still not starting. Doesn't even click or turn over. I haven't had a chance to put back the seat or the plastic cover that goes around the seat (along with the connectors attached to that plastic, but I'm assuming that's for the brake lights and not critical to it starting).
The light comes on, so the instrument panel is getting battery power.
Not sure what to check next. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to our forum. It's hard to tell without actually being there, but my guess (having gone through the live battery/ no start issue) is to check for an electrical grounding problem. When I replaced my starter the same thing happened, and it was one little wire not bolted to the metal frame that kept it from turning over.

slip6, some scooters including all Piaggio products will not start if the brakes lights do not work, try connecting the wires to the lights you might get lucky.

If brake switch doesn't work it won't turn over does that answer you question?

Hi spandi, flyangler, and crawford. Thank you for your replies.
I'll definitely try to look for the little ground wire, as well as put everything back together including connecting the lights. Will update, thanks again!

Ya, my stator burned out, so it was easy to tell the issue. But I went ahead and replaced the cdi box, the diode, rectifier, to make sure one of these was not the original coprate, of why the stator burned up. Parts costed around $130 + new water pump, oil and antifreeze. It starts fine now and running like a champ. Mine is a Chinese scoot MC 13 250 Bali scooter. Your scooter is a more expensive parts. Good luck..

Good luck.. what part of your stator went? if it's AC the charge coil, and lighting circuit, and charging circuit are all different circuits, the charge coil wouldn't really be affected by the regulator, you could hook up only the charge coil output and it would still run
