Bought it last year and added lights and turn signals. Just a toy to operate around town.

Now the bicycle problem was explained. The reason I can ride a scooter, is because of the non movement. See, spasticity is a movement disorder caused by brain injury, strokes, MS, cerebral palsey... It is when signals from the brain get confused and instead of the foot moving it begins to shake. Or knee shakes verses doing what is normal. On the scooter the foot and leg are resting on a foot board and thus no spasticity when operating a scooter. So it is a movement problem that creates spasticity. But when the foot is resting the spasticity does not become active and when pedaling a bicycle it does show up.

The lights are operated by 2 AAA batteries. They last about 1 month. Had to splice wires and extend wires, to make go from the front to back of scooter. I think it came out pretty good. The price of gasoline is expected to rise due to the President dropping out of the nuclear agreement with Iran. Maybe another $1 per gallon by the end of summer. So it might be nice owning a electric scooter to ride around on.

I had a severe stroke at age 16. Still limp, leg and arm still have spasticity, hand curls a tad. Well, am 54 today. Discovered I could ride a 49cc scooter, in 1993. In 2007 I bought a 250 scooter. Put over 10,000 miles on it. I could never ride a bicycle, due to the repetition of pushing down and up motion of pedals. So foot would slip off the pedal, knee area would shake uncontrollably, and leg would get bruised from slapping the center bar repeatly. So I bought the electric scooter to take the place of a bicycle. Not the electric scooter has a 500 watt motor and the ebike can have up to a 750 watt motor. The electric scooter does 18 MPH and the ebike does up to 20 MPH. So there is not to big of a difference, except no pedals. And reasonable accommodations come into play due to my being disabled, when it comes to the City. I put the light, turn signals, horn, headlight, blue spoke lights, and reflectors on myself. Flags too.

The funniest thing occurred with I brought it to City Hall. The City said, that must be registered and insured. I said, no, because I am considered a pedestrian while operating it. They laughed and said, no, you are not a pedestrian. I said, it is a mobility device. They said nothing. They asked me to feel out paperwork, made me prove insurance, asked to copy my drivers license and asked if I had a disabled placard. Well, I came home angry, because the City would not listen to me on it being used for a mobility device. The device is called a OPDMD device. So I wrote the City a letter explaining OPDMD devices and they are similar to a wheelchair and when operated by a mobility disabled person they are under different rules than a person without a disability. That they may not have to be registered, nor insured since looked at as a device verses a vehicle. That the City could only ask if I have a State Disability placard and not the extent of my disability. That they must allow me to go anywhere the public goes. Indicating a pedestrian, because illustrations show a man shopping in a store on a OPDMD device Segway. The DOJ put this into effect March 15, 2010. I could imagine the City of Belle scratching their heads saying, What the ----. See, why I bought this little electric scooter was to ride on the new Rock Island Trail by the State Parks. The State Parks had already said it was a OPDMD device. The City of Belle probably never looked at the new rules. I had planned on riding some in Belle too. Too the drug store, to the City Park, to a restaurant, to perhaps buy a Coke. Not a lot of riding around, but some. No matter how many times I read the DOJ requirements, the more I laugh, because Belle has no way out of it. I mean, that is to funny. But better to find out about new rules now, than to discover them when the trail opens and someone with a electrical device stops and get written up for no license nor insurance and the City get sued.

Well, my friend Dayrel, always cut up his brand new 50cc to make faster. He would just start cutting off parts. Like gas gauge, speedometer, headlight, fenders, body parts, ect. So his ideas were OK but did not really make his scooter go faster. These parts only weigh around 3 lbs and best. Alot were there for safety issues. So it would not be recommended to cut off reflectors. But still Dayrel was a little nutty. He one day thought he would put holes in his breather box to make faster. I watched his drill holes in it. It was on a 2 stroke scoot. He took off and the scooter died. Would not keep running. So he taped up the holes. He bought another scooter eventually. Cut it up also. Took off so many parts that eventually the scooter did not run at all. Think he cut into the wiring harness. He tried selling it for half price, but since I owned a scooter well I did not need it. And since would not run, well I did not have the money to waste on a non running scoot. So he cut it up with a hack saw and through parts in the garbage. He was a character. He was in his late 50's in the 's. Would be in his 70's today. I like keeping my scooters original as possible. Looking good. Not torn up. That is where me and Dayrel had differences in opinions.

I believe all the dealers fib a little to sale more scooters. Can not find a honest dealer even in autos. According to the State of Missouri, what classifies a moped is not larger than 50cc and a brake horsepower of no more than 3 and only travel on level ground at 30mph. Well, got looking at 50cc scooters and alot claim this scooter done 35 mph and had a HP of 3.5. So I looked up the manufacturer and they said, it does 30 mph and HP 1.8. A little better if one goes by guidelines. So yesterday I got looking at the tire size. It said, the front tire was 2.15 x 10... I could not find that size. Well, the online store had a picture of the front tire on web. I blew it up and it said 3.5 x 10.. So don't take someone's word on a description of a scooter. My Bali 250 the online dealer claimed it would do 80mph but Roketa claimed it would only do 68 mph. Dealers even get it wrong. The 3.5 HP was for the 150cc model verses the 50cc at HP 1.8.. Like tire size, how much time would that take a dealer to realize it was a blunder. Too correct it. He had a picture of the tire size. But I do believe the dealers are out to make money. Nothing wrong with this. We all are for this.

Ya, we used to do camping on 50cc scooters, on the outskirts of Columbia Missouri. Camping gear was a small 1 or 2 person tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, telescopic fishing pole, little tackle box, 2 litre of soda, pork and beans, Little Debs cakes, fishing bait, jacket, helmet, gloves. Took a $20 bill along for gas and more snacks. It was pretty cool. It was fun just to go for only night and fish. We brought pudding cups too. Like big kids. I done this a age 29 and today am 53. Still recall those days. We would camp out 6 miles out of Columbia at Finger Lakes Park or camp out near Easily on the Missouri River and fish. A lot of fun.

Now in the State of Missouri, a 50cc scooter by law only requires a regular car operating license to operate. It does not require registering or getting insurance on, because it is considered a motorized bicycle. The insurance company will not write up a policy for only a 50cc scooter. So how does someone get insurance on a 50cc scooter in case of theft or storm damage? Or what if you hit a pedestrian or your scooter falls over and does damage to a new car? See, if I owned a new car and someone's scooter placed a scratch in it, well I would want them to pay for damages. That is only right. Well Missouri Statute 307.180.2 defines a moped/ motorized bicycle and claims this is for homeowners or renters insurance. So in Missouri, I have a renters insurance policy, which will cover my 50cc scooter if stolen, fire, storm damage. And cover others if I have a mishap. It makes me rest easier, knowing if someone stole it, that it is covered.
I have a 250 scooter too. It is legally a motorcycle to Missouri. So need a motorcycle license, registration, and insurance. Again, the full coverage insurance pays to have it. About 4 years ago, my 250 scooter blew over in a wind storm. Done about $600 in damage. After my deductible, I ordered new parts and fixed scooter up, with the insurance check.
Well, anyhow you will have to see what insurance policy will cover your scooter, in your own State. Laws are different in other States.
