thanks for the info. you said I could get "by" with the stock flywheel. so let me ask you if it were your personal scooter would you go for the correct flywheel? I can afford the extra cost, not that I'm rich I just like doing things the right way.thanks again for your time. p.s. are you usually at your shop on Mondays?I would like to get the parts ordered soon.thanks again.

Hi, I've seen these many times in motorcycle tires some look like balls some like flying saucers .my theory and it's just a theory is that it's just left over rubber from the time the tire was mounted and as the wheel rotates as you ride and the tire heats up the left over rubber kind of vulcanizes to it's self and creates the mystery flying saucers or balls.(lol)when ever I came a pond them changing a tire I just scooped them out and mounted the tire no harm done.later

Air filter
by: scoot08 - Apr 10, 2016 14:47:34 GMT -5
Post by scoot08 on Apr 10, 2016 14:47:34 GMT -5
Hi as I said in the previous thread I don't do much riding in the rain,so if you do a lot of riding in the rain I can see where the foam filter would be a better chose. although I guess that would depend on where the filter is located on the scoot. In my case it's up under the plastic body panels and not out in the elements .my only problem with the form filter other than the large size was the look especially after you run them for a while they turn black.now I know this because I've ran them on go carts before. now, I can hear it already function before looks but as some of you have guessed I'm a California guy and out here looks do matter (sorry that's just the way it is) and I like it that way.but I can see if you have to ride in the rain function is what counts. and will keep you from being stranded along the road. but if looks and function are your goal I think the cone filter is a good chose (and you don't ride in the rain often) I almost forgot jerryscript's ? .no the Moxi fiter I use is not shielded. got to go, later my freinds

Hi this thread is mostly for John a.k.a. tvacman but I thought some of you may have the same ?'s. I'm running HID headlights and would like to upgrade to the 11 pole stator that John offers in a kit .as some of you know the HID lights draw more power than most stock stators can handle.the kit that John offers seems to be the most complete kit out there.my ? to John is how much rewiring will I have to do? or is the kit a true plug and play kit .I have no problem with wiring, done lots and lots of it in the past but would like to know before I purchase the kit. and if so does the kit come with a wiring diagram? one more ? the fly wheel is it included or will the stock one work.well that's about it. hope this thread helps other members that are thinking about this upgrade as well. I look forward to your comments. later

Air filter

Hi, I've had really good luck with the cone style air cleaners ,but I've always used the Moxi brand filler ,I guess not all cone fillers are of good quality. I've even put the Moxi brand on some of my buddy's scooters that I worked on with no problems.as far as riding in the rain I don't do much of that but when I have I had no problem at all.so I wouldn't bad mouth all cone fillers but as we all know when it comes to parts for the Chinese scooters not all of them are of good quality.sadly it's buyer be wear .later guys

scoot08, oldchopperguy, JerryScript Hi guys, glad to hear you guys agree the pp's are a good upgrade .Jerry sorry you couldn't find the size you need,I also looked at the city grips when I was looking for tires till I found the pp's. the cg's also look to be a good upgrade .oldchopperguy some times we have to put up with a little pain/work to look cool and minnie mouse is definitely old school .....cool .I just went for a short ride to the store and man.... I love the smooth ride these tires give.when I got the flat I didn't want to keep my scooter down waiting for the new tire to show up ,so I put the old stock tire on just to keep riding, it was like riding with a dirt bike knobie compared to the Michelins . well I guess I've said my two cents worth about the pp's check them out, later my friends.

Hi everyone, just finished fixing a flat on the rear of my scooter.and thought I'd past on some info.if your looking to purchase some new tires for your scoot, I highly recommend the Michelin Power Pure tires ,there not cheap but well worth the extra cost.(about twice the cost of the stock tires) I recommend these for a couple of reasons. one the ride is much smoother ,the cornering is awesome and the side wall is so stiff you can ride with a flat.now that is a little tricky but as i said I just had a flat.I picked up a razor blade from a box cuter in my rear tire if you can belief that (don't ask me how that happened) but it did.the blade was still in the tire.the flat happened about 2 miles from my home I was able to ride it home. like I said a little tricky but it did it.the tire was completely flat.so I'm sold on the Michelins .I've been riding on them for about a year and a half and the wear seems to be great.I did have to replace the rear tire as the razor blade cut the cords in the tire and when that happens you can't just patch the tire.one more thing if you do purchase these tire and you have a shop willing to change them for you, by all means have them do it. the side walls are so stiff it is a pain in the a** to change them. my scooter has 13" wheels I don't know if they make them in the smaller sizes ,but you can check.I got mine at Motorcycle Superstore.com anyway that my recommendation if your looking to upgrade your tires. later

Hey lain, this is just a thought, and maybe you have already checked, you said the new triple trees are wider, have you checked your wheel spacing if the wheel is not right in the center of the forks it could cause the rotor to rub the caliper or caliper mount. look for rub marks outside as well as inside of the rotor, caliper ,forks. also the rotor may have been damaged it's hard to see just by eyeing it .it doesn't take much for the rotor to rub. try checking by rotating the wheel with some kind of stationary object like a pointer mounted to the fork slider (hope you understand what I mean) one more thing check the top of the rotor and see if it maybe making contact with the caliper .anyway's hope this maybe helpful.later

Hi I have found the bulbs at auto parts stores ,just make sure you take the old bulb with you to match it up. also if you upgrade to the HID head lamps you may find your charging system won't be able to keep up with the power draw .the fix for that would be to upgrade to a 11 pole stater kit.that said I have HID head lamps on my scooter and they work with the stock 8 pole stater for short periods of time ,but I do very little riding at night. by that I mean maybe 2 or 3 miles at a time.I have a volt meter on my scooter so I can see the draw normal is around 13.5 to 14.5 volts when I use the headlights it drops to around 11.5 to 12 volts that's not enough to keep your battery charged. so you see that could be a problem.as for me I'm going to upgrade to the 11 pole in the near future.if just for peace of mind.hope this helps you good luck.later
