scooterpookin,@ramblinmsan, lain I had the same problem because my scooter has rear disc.brakes and I did just what you did I used the stock header pipe and just painted it.if you take it to a muffler shop and they heat it your going to discolor the chrome any way and it probably won't fit as well as the stock pipe. another suggestion maybe to have it power coated just make sure it's heat proof powder coat.hope this helps.later

Hi every body, got a little problem I've been experimenting with roller whts. I was having what I thought was clutch chatter but discovered it was flat spots on the rollers.so I replaced the 12 grm. rollers with new ones and the problem went away, for about a week but they too developed flat spots.so I went to new 13 grm. rollers as I said I'm experimenting with the whts. as I inspected the 12's I took out they too had flat spots.so I went ahead and replaced them with the new 13 grm. rollers ,and again the 13's worked just fine but now they too are chattering .now I'm running a Dr pulley variator with out any of the spacers that come with the kit. I've ran it both ways with and without the spacer doesn't seem to make much difference .and I've been using rollers instead of sliders to dial in the variator just because their cheaper but once I get the right combo I'll order the correct sliders .I'm beginning to think it may be the Dr pulley variator maybe it just doesn't like rollers and sliders may be the answer .I seem to remember a thread a few weeks ago that mentioned having some of the same problems, I.E. wearing out the rollers. I maybe wrong about that I just can't remember (old age) I've heard of guys adding just a tiny bit of graphite to the variator ramps when using slider (any views on that idea?)I don't think it would be a good idea on the rollers as you want them to roll not slide, any way that's what I'm dealing with any suggestions ? thanks in advance. and remember ride shinny side up and rubber side down.(lol)

Hi yea Lain is right make sure your putting the small end into the intake manifold and that the hose clamp looking thing is loose, it is a tight fit ,heirs a tip spray a little WD 40 on the rubber part and it should slip right in. also there is a way to remove the screws that hold on the float bowl that's the bottom of the carb if you can't find a thread on this web site to show you how to do this try you tube the site is 49cc project or gtvert this guy will walk you thought the whole process he favors 50cc two strocks but the job is the same as 150cc carb.good luck

Thanks rcq92130 but a analog gauge just won't fit where I want to mount it ,but I'm glad you mentioned the trouble with seeing the numbers I was thinking about that same problem .I now have a led clock in the place I want to mount the tach and in direct sun light it is hard to see some times.I wish I knew how to minimize photos so I could show you all where I want to mount this thing .but people have told me more that once how to email photos and I just don't get it ,it's hard being computer illiterate.(lol) I have a camera and believe it or not I can make it work (lol) anyway I'm glad you mentioned the sun light problem I was about to order the tach but just to make sure we are talking about the same tach. the one I was looking at is a Trail Tech 72-A00. for about 32.00 dollars. they seem to make them for all kinds of motorcycles dune buggies dirt bikes etc.so I guess I'll just keep looking thanks again for the help.

Hi I started a tread a few weeks ago about changing the instrument cluster on my scooter with one that had a tach on it, as mine didn't come with a tach at the time I wanted to keep the cluster stock looking but since than I've changed my mine. mainly because the people that are selling the clusters are sales people and not tech people and or mechanics. and can't answer any ?'s about the product they sell.but that's for another time .what I'm looking for is a small led tach (hoping for blue)no larger than 50 mm x 19 mm I've seen some on ebay so I know they exist ,but all the ones on ebay either have to work with a proximity switch or won't work on a single cylinder engine.I could go with the ones that uses the proximity switch but I can't help thinking theirs got to be one that will work off the CDI or the COIL and not have to mess with mounting the switch and magnet. so if any of you have a suggestion I'm all ears, the tach that would work will probably only have 3 wires 1 positive 1 negative and 1 signal wire that would go to the coil or cdi. I could even use a tach that has it's own housing or frame all I want is the LED display as I have already fabricated a panel to mount the LED too,I hope I've explained this the right way, if not please let me know and I'll try again. thanks in advance.

WOW, your scooter is really cool, kind of a sleeper, I mean that in a good way.it looks good but no one would guess it had all that going in the motor department.l like it.I have done a few drive train upgrades like Dr.pulley var. 13grm. sliders 1500 rpm torque spring 1500 rpm clutch springs ncy clutch. but nothing like you have done. I kind of went more for looks .custom paint, pin stripping, rear air dam,and chrome lots of chrome .you know the old saying if it don't go chrome it LOL. but I like. got a ? for you, when you added the BBK did you have to bore your engine cases and if so did you do it yourself or have it done.Oh I forgot to ask, was your scooter a 150cc or a 50cc all the BBKs I've seen for 150s you have to bore the cases.I may want to go with a BBK in the future but thought I'd wait till I wore out this engine first.and start with a fresh new engine. that kind of sounds like what you did.right.well got to go,like your scoot.later
