Hi everyone, I want to change my instrument cluster because my scooter did not come with a tachometer .I found one on ebay that has a tachometer ,with a 9 pin connector like mine but the one on ebay has only 7 wires going to the connector mine has 9. now my scooter has a voltmeter on the cluster that the ebay cluster does not .the voltmeter uses 2 wires to make it work so I think that is the reason for the 2 extra wires on my connector I was hoping that maybe someone out there has done this mod.before and could give me some pointers any help would be great,if you need more info please ask.thanks in advance.

They all come from China and have so many different names , but are all pretty much the same . some have smaller frames and wheels , some have long case engines and some have short case engines , but ours do look a lot alike . do u have 13inch wheels on yours ? The new cluster probably has the cell phone indicator also . your probably right about the wires being the volt meter . most of the clusters with the tachometers do not have a volt meter " at least the ones I've seen "

Hi geh3333, yes mine has 13" mag wheels with disc. brakes front and rear. I up graded the front caliper from a single piston to a dual piston, but had to fab.the caliper hanger as I could find one that would work with my front forks, it took some work to fab. but it works really well.I'm now working on a custom stainless steel exhaust system, as well as the cluster mod.how about you any mod on your scooter?.

I've done a good bit to my scoot . when it comes to the engine , I went with a 58.5 big bore kit , an ncy 58.5 racing head and valves , 32mm pumper carb with a 125 main jet , 30mm intake manifold , high performance exhaust , racing cdi , performance coil with an NGK plug boot , ncy 3rd generation clutch assembly with a 2000 rpm main spring and 1500 rpm clutch springs , koso 115 mm variator with an ncy finless drive face . I also installed 130/70/13 tires , which are a little taller then stock . I run an 842mm belt and I installed 14:38 final drive gears . I think that's about it , here is an updated pic. The bottom is a little more updated . I also have a homemade intake with a uni filter and I use an NGK iridium plug. .

Geh333 just out of curiosity what did those mods give you ? for the stock setup and what would be the cost . Thanks The mods gave me quite a bit. I was topping out around 55 or so before the mods . after the CVT upgrade " variator and clutch " I was pretty close to 60 mph . then after the rest I can get up to 67 on a straight run , 73 down smaller declines , I've actually hit 80 down a steeper hill ,lol . I posted a video of my scoot hitting 73 " down a smaller decline " i passed a radar sign to show the speed. When it comes to cost here is an estimate . CVT & gearing $250 Top end rebuild $240 Exhaust , intake & carb $225 Cdi & other electronics $20 Optional I started with a new engine $300 I probably spend nearly $600 on multiple variator weights , jets , ncy HP starter clutch , chrome swingarm " it broke a yr later " , and other new parts such as shocks , taller tires , different size belts and fog lights . but none of that has anything to do with gaining top end " except for the taller tires " . I believe you should be able to have a true top end of 60+ with the cvt mods , exhaust , carb and intake mods. I recommend a top end rebuild " bbk " however I do believe u can achieve the 60+ without it. Remember most China speedos are inaccurate so u will want to go by radar or GPS for a true top end. I got lucky and have an accurate speedo .

WOW, your scooter is really cool, kind of a sleeper, I mean that in a good way.it looks good but no one would guess it had all that going in the motor department.l like it.I have done a few drive train upgrades like Dr.pulley var. 13grm. sliders 1500 rpm torque spring 1500 rpm clutch springs ncy clutch. but nothing like you have done. I kind of went more for looks .custom paint, pin stripping, rear air dam,and chrome lots of chrome .you know the old saying if it don't go chrome it LOL. but I like. got a ? for you, when you added the BBK did you have to bore your engine cases and if so did you do it yourself or have it done.Oh I forgot to ask, was your scooter a 150cc or a 50cc all the BBKs I've seen for 150s you have to bore the cases.I may want to go with a BBK in the future but thought I'd wait till I wore out this engine first.and start with a fresh new engine. that kind of sounds like what you did.right.well got to go,like your scoot.later

Thanks geh3333 , that is a lot of mods but 70 on a small tire bike would be a blast , and you can still go with a little NOS if you really needed a boost . A bottle in the trunk and nobody would even know LOL

Its pretty easy to do yourself . its pretty much all bolt on parts and making sure everything is set right " gaps , timing " . when it comes to the new engine , I bought the scoot used and after a yr I figured I'd buy a new engine before I started the mods . the old engine had 1000 miles on it but was 4 yrs old and I wasn't sure how good it was taken care of . I didn't want to do a bunch of top end work and have the crank go out right off the bat , or something worse that would destroy the top end . i did do a quick flat black paint job on her last summer , and some decal work , and i replaced the vinyl on the seat . I have somewhere around 17-18,000 miles on the new engine now and hopefully I'll get another 10k or more out of her. Now that you got your scoot lookin good she's ready for some engine work !!

A bottle in the trunk and nobody would even know LOL No prob . its nice to have the speed to keep the cars off your as! . its kind of scary flying down a steep hill at 80mph on a scoot !! I've only done it a few times but every time I'm waiting for an animal to run out in front of me . that would be the end of my riding days , lol , maybe the end for me all together ! Hmmm maybe I shouldn't laugh about that
