I bought one of those muffler/exhaust off of eBay. It looks really good has a nice chrome finish. Only problem is the actual pipe doesn't have the right bend in it.
Anybody have this problem before? I guess I can take it to a muffler shop and see if they will bend it for me.
I was able to use my existing pipe and just bolt the new muffler on. It sounds sexy!! Just my old pipe is all rusty....

yeah, you can bend the pipe assuming it is the right length.

I think it's the right length, I tried using a butane torch to heat it up, but I guess it wasn't enough

Are you sure you got the right pipe? They sell different shaped pipes.

scooterpookin,@ramblinmsan, lain I had the same problem because my scooter has rear disc.brakes and I did just what you did I used the stock header pipe and just painted it.if you take it to a muffler shop and they heat it your going to discolor the chrome any way and it probably won't fit as well as the stock pipe. another suggestion maybe to have it power coated just make sure it's heat proof powder coat.hope this helps.later

Hey buddy , I bought an eBay exhaust also . can u post a pic of yours? What happened with mine was the header ran the muffler right into the rear shocks! What I did was cut the flange off the header " that bolts to the head " . I cut it off about a half inch up the header, I turned it and put a couple spot welds on it to hold it in place and I took it to the scoot to see if it was positioned right. After I got it in the right position I welded the flange to the header . no bending what so ever .

Thanks for the feedback, yea mine does the same thing, it would fit if my right rear shock wasn't there. Lol This is the one I got. For now the old pipe works. And I've already got a huge improvement with new muffler , now it's just cosmetics.

That's really close to the one I have. I cut the hangers off and turned the flange to get it to fit. The problem with the stock pipe is its probably a smaller diameter header , and its cutting down on the airflow. If you or someone you know welds , it very simple to do .

I cut the hangers off too but still no cigar. So when you say flange you mean on the engine itself?
I wish I knew how to weld that's the next hobby!

At the end of the header " muffler pipe" , there is the part that has the two holes that you bolt to the motor head. That is the flange. Let me guess , when you bolt the pipe to the engine head , you are unable to install the muffler because it is at an angle where the muffler is being pushed into the scoots shocks or around there. If you cut the flange off the pipe " about a half or 3/4 inch down the pipe. Meaning the cut off flange will have about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of pipe coming off of it. Then you can turn the flange and reweld it to the pipe so now the pipe is in the right place to be able to install the muffler .

Ohh!!! I see now. Yea that sounds simple enough. Cut, turn, and reweld.
My closest option would be som JB weld! Haha
Or make a welder out of an old microwave!! You hear about that?

Lol , I didnt hear that one yet. Here is an easier way to do the job. First if you can find someone to weld . next cut the flange off , bolt it to the head , next bolt the muffler to the other end of the pipe and use the clamp to clamp the muffler to the swingarm . leave it loose enough so you can slide and spin the muffler with pipe attached. This way you can then line it up under the scoot with the flange that is already attached and in place at the right angle. A few spot welds to hold the pipe to the flange . unbolt the flange from the head and remove the clamp from the muffler . now who ever is welding can finish the weld out in the open . much easier then guessing and having to do it a couple time before its right.

I like it!
I can probably find someone who can weld. Or I can just by me a little spot welder right? Price not too bad?

You can buy a small welder for around 100 beans . but if you never welded it might not be as easy as that. If you don't know what you r doing its very easy to cut right through the pipe instead of welding it together. I've seen it happen many times. When I had mine done I hit it with a few spot welds then had my neighbor do the rest of the welding. It should not cost much to have it done . if there is some way you can get the flange lined up right and maybe even use a little bit of JB weld to hold it in place , then take it somewhere to weld it in place. Just don't cover it with jB weld because there needs to be a place it can be welded before removing the jb weld , you don't want it to move before it gets welded. It you take it somewhere where they don't have to line it up and get under the scoot , it should not cost much at all for the little bit of welding needed . maybe $30 , I would not pay much more then that. It should only take then ten minutes to do. Sand the pipe and use jb weld on two sides . don't jb weld two opposite sides , u want to jb weld so it won't move side to side or back and fourth if dropped.
