Thank you for the reply. That Makes sense, since I bought first new hoca variator, I did not change the belt, and the belt broke 400 miles later with 2k miles on it exactly (Gates Premium). I now bought a new belt (Gates Premium again) and I have about 300 miles on it.
I actually rode the bike again today and it felt much better (35 miles). It is getting cold here in the North East already so today might be the last ride of the season for me (I still got to ride 35 miles back home).
I will be giving Valentina a full tune up\inspection in the winter and I will report back for an update :-)

If you are at sea level to adjust the air\fuel ratio you need to tighten it all the way, and then turn it counter clock wise 2.5 turns. that should be perfect!! See if that works!!! Good Luck - Ital

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update. When I ride the scooter I am feeling vibrations at high speed. It seems it is coming from the variator/clutch assembly. Should I be worried about this and could this have caused my belt to shred?
I do not think it is the clutch, perhaps I should try putting the stock variator back on and see if it goes away? As of now I've been taking it easy to avoid the vibrations as I do not want to be left stranded

Interesting. I used the same kit on mine scooter and my belt shredded after a couple of hundreds of miles. I actually compare the bushings and they appeared Identical perhaps one was slightly thicker. Now I am thinking that perhaps I should have used the stock one.

Hello geh3333, i picked up my clutch with the new spring and put everything back together, however it seems I had not tighten the variator nut enough and everything came flying off. Thank God I was in the garage checking and nothing got damage. However I was not able to find the washer that goes between the variator fan and nut. I used another washer that I had but it is probably not the same diameter. How important is this washer? went for a ride and first impressions are the belt seems to grab better. I did no realize it before but I think I had some slippage which help a bit on take off. Now the bike seems to take off more linearly and holds acceleration more steadily. I will be able to confirm acceleration details soon as my buddy and I get together as he has a scooter and we always do a before and after about the belt, the shop owner told me the gates premium has the VE writing on it. Also the 1500 rpm spring made it a lot harder to get the belt on, I just hope this whole washer situation is nothing I need to worry about. I made sure to make all bolts very tight this time. Thank you Ital

xyshannen I do not mind the sportier exhaust look on my retro scooter, as long as it does not hit my frame. I am a bit on the fence to buy a $60 exhaust from ebay as I think it will turn orange in a matter of weeks... I would like to get something a bit better quality as I wish to buy this once. Do you think the one that I posted in my link would fit? thank you - Ital

I been wanting to add a performance exhaust to my 2012 Puma Valentine, but my scooter dealer is telling me they do not make one for my model has the side frame sits too low. I looked online and I even showed the scooter shop this particular model that says it is for retro scooters and he is saying it wont fit. www.partsforscooters.com/190-41_retro_exhaustdo I have any options at all? I would prefer to spend as little as possible, but still get soemthing decent. Something around $150 max? thank you - Ital

Hi All, just to give you a guys an update. I stopped by a local scooter shop and they had the Gates premium belt which they confirmed it was the same one I already had which shredded. I am hoping it was just old and nothing is wrong with they way my variator is set up. I also brought them my clutch and bought a 1500 NCY clutch spring which they will install for me. I will then bring the whole assembly home and put my scoot back together. alleyoop I would have bought the bando belt but they did not carry it :/ thank you all for your help and replies. geh3333 spandi urbanmadness alleyoop

geh3333 urbanmadness alleyoopIf I were to get a new 1500 RPM Torque Spring and open this thing up. Would I be able to easily remove all the tangled treads? I can get most of it out but some pieces will definitely be left in there. Would that cause issues? * Would a new torque spring cause less MPG? * Would it cause my clutch to wear quicker? Thank you - Ital

geh3333I have to say that the Gates premium is where my mind was set on, so I am going most likely that route. Just wondering while I have this apart if I should make any other adjustments. currently I have hoca race variator with 12g weights and standard clutch.
