typical gy6 engine uses the non iridium version, but I suggest this one.
NGK (7544) CR7HIX Iridium IX Spark Plug

It is a pain taking the bigger carbs out . that pumper does get wedged in there pretty darn good . I always bust my knuckles up taking it in and out. I had the same issue till I switch to hoca 30mm slide carb. I highly recommend it frees up a lot of space and performs better then ncy 30mm cvk

it is going to take you some trial and error to get it right. Use google and watch some videos on it. most of these scooters are a 157QMJ, if you google where to find it you can see videos on that as well.
you can make these to ride so much better than stock, I tried a bit of everything and now I think I know what works... so I can give you my opinion but you are looking to around $700 if you want to gain about 10MPH top speed on flats, and probably gain 20MPH when going up hills.
Once you remove the emission system I would start with upgrading to a: Hoca 30mm Slide carb 50mm UNI filter 30mm NCY intake manifold Exhaust NCY Teflon coated Variator 11 Grams sliders NCY Gen 3 or 4 clutch 1500 Clutch spring SNOWFLAKE Clutch Bell
That should run you around $500
if you then want to take full advantage you get a Taida 61MM big bore kit with matching head. I would advise with forged piston.
just so you know what you are getting your self into.

Also there must be another variable gear not exposed. I think your chart is correct if a 13inc scooter would go down to 10. A good test would be with your clutch off how many tire revolutions does your drive shaft take to do a full turn. My buds on stock gears takes 8.5 times on 12inch rims. Mine on 16/38 gears is 5 times on 10inch rims. That is a much bigger difference then 20% thus there must be another variable/gear

I am not going to be able to convince anyone. What ever you decide to go with you will be happy with. I am lucky that my bud with 61mm bbk is on stock gearings and he is faster than me all around and our mods are the same. Anyway my 14/37 gears will be here this week and hopefully I can confirm if I gain speed all the way around or not by racing him.

rcq92130, the smaller the first number the better the take off should be, or you need less torque to spin the wheels. I would recommend for sure not to go anything higher then 16 and I would personally stay on 15 max from what I know now. To be honest I would have been perfectly happy with my 16\38 gears, but the fact that my buddy on stock gears with all other mods being the same is faster all around is making me recommend to you to stay on a ration close to 2.5 max for you. You will probably hit about 70\75MPH with that

Can't wait for the test results . Dmartin over at www.dansgaragetalk.com def knows his stuff . What gears does everyone think rcq should go with. I'm leaning towards 17:36 gears due to his 10" wheels and the 190cc's . I'd like to know how much HP this engine is going to put out! I am running 16\38 gears on my 171CC fully tuned on 10" wheels and I lost acceleration and have not gained top speed. I need more HP, I am assuming the 20cc more on RCQ would do the trick, so I would recommend using 16\38 and do not go any higher. I actually just ordered 14\37 for my scooter. Stock was 13\40

pistonguy, lol.. yes that does suck but you are wrong about his head. He has upgraded bored head and he even bored out the intake manifold, upgraded valves and springs. Basically we were about even until I developed the intake leak, but his scooter for some reason was always a bit faster from mine in stock form. He is also running an A12 cam and I am running an A9. I am just trying to see where I can gain some extra power and since I value your opinion I ask. When you said my head was no good, what kind of symptoms were you expecting me to get? Were you thinking it would seize on me or would it deliver very little power? I have about 1k miles on this head now. thank you

Ital, I'm not here to put you down or make you feel bad but just being honest, this Head work is a total Butcher job. The Intake tract goes in then has Two Dip down dimples on each side of the Valve guide, This should be a Flat Transition into the Bowls, this will cause a Flow "Eddie". The Exhaust has been Hogged out to wear the sealing ring for the header pipe is essentially gone. Will never get the header pipe to seal, The Head is now junk. geh333 is correct in the Header Pipe Diameter will be smaller than the Exh. Port, Now the Head Pipe will restrict the entire flow. Sorry for the news but Best of Luck Hello pistonguy, when you said the head is junk what does it mean? what kind of symptoms would I have? I had here all together and she was running very very strong for a couple of months at least that is what I thought. I basically gained about 10MPH on flats and probably close to 15MPH going up hills, that is with all the mods put together. I did start to have some issue recently and can get my rpm past 8k, but I think it is due to the vacuum leak i am having at the intake manifold level. Thanks for the help!!!

Hello All, My buddy and I are planning on doing the 61mm upgrade and we are deciding on parts. My buddy is a heavy car tuner so he has a lot of contacts so that helps. so far we have decided to get: NCY 61mm Big bore kit NCY 61mm Head which we will have HAND PORTED as well Now we need advise on a carburetor, we are thinking on getting the Hoca 30mm or 32mm Carb which are not cheap, I seen some that look nice on amazon but nor sure about quality. Also on the cam we need advise, I was thinking about getting the NCY Performance Cam My buddy thinks the A10 Racing Cam Shaft by MRP is the way to go. If you guys have better suggestion they are welcome. Not sure if we are missing anything else. Thank you all for the great help it is much appreciated!!! our goal is 70MPH on flats and keep her reliable. We plan on gearing as well but we will look at that after the install. I like this uni setup . I made it from PVC parts and rubber a rubber connection . I also made the same one for a member over the summer . geh3333, i think I need this set up. I have the uni filter what else I need? I am having a vacum leak currently so I am trying to make it as clean as possible.

It is probably a standard gy6. Definetly not a B case. I have installed the ncy 61mm bbk with no issues. I just ran into issues with my after market variator recently and someone mentioned to check if I had a bn engine as it could be different

I did call but they seemed puzzled. Anyway it does seem it fits. Just installed the ncy variator and seems to work very well where the hoca one I had was giving me issues. Check my video below

Hi All, does anyone know if I can use the DR Pulley variator or NCY Variator on this type of transmissions? would it be a direct bolt on?
I did some research and there is a monster transmission on the BN157QMJ with 16 Wheels, I definetly do not have that, thus I am thinking that the standard variator for the 157QMJ would work. Can anyone confirm?
thank you - Luigi
