I just found out that I have a BN157QMJ with 10" wheels. Does anyone know if the NCY variator or DR Pulley variator is a direct bolt on on this type of engine or I must use stock?

Yep. Just pray your battery never leaves you stranded. I would have kept my kick starter, but the teeth on the end of the shaft were stripped and I didn't want to pay for a new one at the time. what do you do when the battery dies in the car? I will just have to get it jumped started... I always care a screw driver with me so I will have access to the battery, but yeah I hope it does not leave me stranded...

I took the kick starter off of my 150cc with no problems. I put a piece of duct tape over the inside of the shaft hole to keep out water and dirt. Thanks, so you removed both shafts between the variator and clutch? from this: to this: it is safe, correct? I'll have to cover the hole too, but not sure about duck tape... lol, maybe I'll make a cap using an old wine cap or something

Hi All, I figure while I wait for the new variator to come in I would open her up and try to fix the kick start since I have never been able to use it. So I put the kickstart lever on and with my hand I try to rotate to see what is going on and I grease a couple of the gears. I try to move it again and the whole things falls out.... Now I do not care for it since I never been able to use it anyway but can it stay out or I need it for the variator to work? I cant see or understand why not, but i figures i would ask the experts. I removed both of the shaft since one fell out... and with both shaft out... I think it looks much better like this IMO, just want to make sure it works with no issues

yes it is safe to remove. It does not affect performance. Removing would improve performance but its negligible.

I had the belt brake on me already 3 times in like 3k miles. The last time it broke I replaced everything but the variator, see first post, including clutch. only thing I did not replace was the variator. First belt broke after installing variator. I am not sure if it is the variator and perhaps it is just a coincidence, but my belt broke after installing the variator and I replaced everything since but the variator so I will give that a try.

Man that looks like a lot of work. I can see the bearing causing the clutch to lock but not the variator. I will try my luck with the new variator first. I also just change my gears recently and everything seemed find from what I could tell. thank you

Hi All, I am not sure where the bearing is located. However i think you guys may have nailed the issue if the variator seems like it is locking up. I am not sure how the variator works for sure, but one thing I did notice about the hoca race variator is that the boss would not fit around the shaft and the variator back part it self would fit but was very very tight and I would have to wigle it quit a bit to get it to push all the way back on the shaft. I ended up using the stock boss which look identical to me to the hoca one. Now if the variator is supposed freely roll ontop of the boss then yes the variator can be very much locking up as it is probly locking up against the shaft it self.
I will have to take some pictures of the stock variator vs the hoca variator and post some pictures with hopefully some noticeable differences.
BTW i did get my belts from partforscooters dot com
Thank you

Hi All, my problem all started when I installed the HOCA Race variator, I installed a new one and I still having the issue. I am going to try ditching it and just ordered the NCY Teflon coated Variator
This are the parts i replaced bout a week ago.
so far I have:
* Hoca race Variator with 12 grams rollers
* NCY 1500 RPM Contra springs
* NCY Gen 3 Clutch with red springs
* Snow flake clutch bell
* NCY aluminum drive face
* NCY Secondary driver
* Gates Premium belt 743 20 30
I was thinking about getting perhaps the blue contra spring but the belt broke even before that change. Also my belt is a very very tight fit. is that Normal and could that be contributing to the belt breaking?
My buddys belt is not as tight.
Thank you - Luigi

I cant seem to find any options. Stock is 743 20 30 I think I found a 753 20 30 that I want to try but not sure about quality. Don't think that is real gates. do you guys have any suggestions? My belt is currently not getting full climb on my new larger variator, so wanted to try something longer. I would say I have a about 1/2cm or 1/8 inch of climb left. www.aliexpress.com/item/GATES-Powerlink-753-20-drive-belt/1925391301.html
