Not that long ago , a member had an issue and ordered an rpm tach. He posted a few videos and his tach was reading between 2-3k rpms . everyone was trying to help him out, but once I heard the scoot idle in the video , I told him that there was no way his scoot was Idling that high. It sounded much lower. Turned out he had it on the wrong setting. OK I will get a video of it. Perhaps tomorrow. It did go as high as 2400 rpm but just for a few seconds... Thanks

Here are some pics. Had to mount it below steering as wire was a bit too short. It is also water proof not that I leave it outside or drive in the rain but its a good option to have. URL=http://s33.photobucket.com/user/dicostal/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150428_004307.jpg.html] [/URL]

well, I installed it. Did not touch it and it seemed accurate out of the box so I am not messing with it. Tested idle only, but on idle i was around 2k RPM on start up while it was worming up and then it dropped all the way down to about 1300 RPM for a second or two and then settled around 1700RPM when fully warmed... sounds ok to me...
I will post some picks of it and let you know the rpm while driving...
Thank you - Luigi

Hi All, bought a digital tachometer with a battery so it only needs spark plug signal. Had a quick questions to set this up. Do our engines fire 1 spark per 2 revolutions?
Thank you

sorry to hear geh3333, I am glad your not badly hurt. You should open an insurance claim to cya just in case you have some odd pain in a month or so. I hope you have a speedy recovery and take it easy

geh3333 jerseyboy JerryScriptHi All, in my original post I already stated that I have done all the prep work already and my mods are in my signature. I am already hitting about 60 MPH on flats, That is why I am hoping with changing the the gears and BBK will be hitting about 70MPH. However I really do not want to change the stock heads if I do not need too. Thank you

I am going on vacation but when I get back if I get confirmation that I can use the stock head with the NCY 61 mm big bore kit I am pulling the trigger together with some ncy 16 × 38 or 15 x 38 gearing. Did all the research and I think I should be able to do all the work I am thinking 70mph will be achievable on flats... Will keep stock carb for now... Thanks

Sweet!! That is good news. My local scoot shop carries the Casoli CDI and will try it out. Did it make a noticeable difference for you?

Thank you all for the great feed back. Can I bolt the ncy 61mm straight up without changing anything else other then rejetting, uni filter and exhaust. I was speaking with my local scooter shop and he was saying i would need heads too. Thanks

Also one more question. If the scooter is running fine now with a 130 main jet, will I need to jet higher after installing big bore kit? I read many places where people had to down jet due to the increase vacum able to pull in more fuel. Do you think my stock 24mm carb can handle it? And if I were to put on a 30MM carb would that increase power?
Thank you

if i'm not mistaken geh3333 has ncy bbk along with many other mods reaching 67mph. i think he had to change the gears to get that speed. you might consider doing the gears first. i'd get some info from him or another member before you order any parts. most problems with any bbk is caused by improper installation or running lean. imo as long as you properly install, rejet the carb and break the engine in then you shouldn't have any problems. oh, and don't forget oil changes/level. Thank you for the reply. I re-jetted pretty heavily after installing UNI filter. I went from a 105 main jet to a 130, that is when she ran best. I just installed an Exhaust and the 130 main Jet still feels fine. I may consider installing a high performance CDI but I am not sure if they will add any performance to a 150CC and can cause the engine to run hotter. I do not think it is worth it, but I could be under the wrong assumption\impression. Thank you

Hi All, I have a 2012 Puma Valentine 150cc, she has about 3k miles on her so far and she has been very reliable for the most part. I've been doing all the maintenance work and in the summer I drive her almost everyday to work about 30 miles each way, about 50 minutes of mostly full throttle driving.
I want more speed out of here and i did most of the upgrades already getting her ready for the BBK, hoca variator, uni filter and exhaust. I wanted to know how reliable the NCY big bore kit is? I did some research and most people that do these upgrades post for the first year and then they go MIA and you do not know if the scooter just blew up or something.
anyone running this kit for many years without issues?
I plan to get the NCY 61MM big bore kit together with the gearing change.
They also have an NCY that is ceramic coated that I believe is 57.5MM which is a bolt on. I would like to go with the bigger one if i do not have to worry about reliability issues.
I still have the stock carburetor I am hoping I can hold off replacing it for now to keep the cost down. I would replace it probably next year to a 30MM one.
thank you - Luigi
