Agreed on the full face helmet. Along with eye protection, and noise reduction, when it's cold on winter mornings, I cannot imagine having your face exposed to that kind of frigid wind. I listen to music on earbuds when I'm riding. I guess I shouldn't say that, because I think it's illegal. But, that's what I do. Talk about noise reduction, ha ha. Thats dangerous... jus'sayin'

TaoTao scoots have crap emissions components. Id guess your overfilling the tank and liquid gas is leaking down through the tank vent into your intake manifold flooding it out. Remove the PAIR system vac line and cap off the manifold nipple right before your next fill up and see if it helps. If it does remove that PAIR junk and ride on. Can i just remove ther vac line off the intake and cap it off and ride it? or do i really have to remove everything else? you can just pull the line and cap it, but most people prefer to remove it all. After all, every ounce you remove makes the engine work a little less...

Thanks all of you. Im ready to get my intake put together now. No problem. Playing with the length of the intake can actually net good performance gains on these engines if done in a semi-scientific way. Above all, have fun and keep it rubber side down!

Less than ten bucks total. Does everything fit together good ? How good does it fit through the crossbar ? A pic would be great ! I actually lost mine a couple days ago. Waiting on a new uni to arrive so i can redo it. Have a knockoff straight to carb on there now. I used (I think) a 2" 45* sweep elbow and a section of 2"pvc about 2.5" long. Great performance boost over a straight on filter. This is totally tunable also, just increase or decrease pvc length to get results. Found my best results around 2.5" Fit through my Lancers crossmember well, but rubbed the back fender if not angled right.

I just bought a tao tao scooter off amazon this week, 150 cc lancer. I drove it for about 2 miles where it died at a stop light. couldn't get it to start for about 10 minutes. Then it turned over and idled ... I drove it around the parking lot, stopped and started it with ease. So I continued on.sure enough about 2 miles later it died on me again.. this time I could restart it, but if I have it any gas it would die right away.. about 10 min later I was able to get it going again and drove it to my parents house and loaded it on a trailer and took it home. I have changed the oil and used premium gas as instructed. I'm a novice when it comes to scooters, but Hoping its something small so I don't have to get things replaced . Taotao is notorious for crap gas caps not venting. Check the fuel filter after it dies. Little to no fuel in it means the tanks not venting. Pop the gas cap and crank 'er over, if fuel flows you found your problem.

Thats what I call them. Think they're under "flexable connectors" in the pvc/plumbing section. Thanks alot. What did it cost you would say? Less than ten bucks total.

two or 3 jaw puller on the swing arm. John Jaw puller + slidehammer are invaluable when working with wheels/bearings...

And is it just called a rubber connector? Thats what I call them. Think they're under "flexable connectors" in the pvc/plumbing section.

Make your own intake like this to attach the uni to. . U can get all the parts at a hardware store. I don't care for those cone filters. What all did you use? Thats what i was wondering. Looks like a * pvc sweep elbow and a rubber connector...

I have a new scoot. Bought it off a guy cheap because it wouldnt idle. I bought i new carb and put it on ran great. For some reason everytime i fill it up i cant get it to start its like it gets flooded out. and i saw some gas comming out of the evap canister(i think thats what it is) can anyone help. And ive also got problems starting it at times. but once i get it started it will run fine and idle fine but sometimes it dies but can start it right back up and it runs great. Ive installed a 130 jet and an after market air filter straight on the carb. also have a performance cdi, and a new NGK plug and new performance coil. I can get up to top speed but sometimes feels like a wheel bearing is dragging but its not. i can let off the throttle and it will ride smooth. I need some help. I am a vehicle mechanic. and this scoot is new to me and driving me nuts. and it really ticks me off when i go to fill it up and have to call the wife to come get me cause it wont start. but i can let it sit overnight and it will start and run just fine. cna i eliminate the evap stuff??? any help would be awesome. I love this scoot but its really getting on my nerves. TaoTao scoots have crap emissions components. I have this sccoot. Its KM. Ditch the stock rubber for some decent rubber and get your tires balanced or use some RideOn tire balancing/sealing gel. Also watch out for a bent rotor. Mine was bent from factory. Took some serious machine work to remove and install a new one. Drilling and tapping isnt fun on a new bike. Upside is i now have hefty bolts on my rotor instead of lousy M8.. He has rear drum brakes , so a bent rotor is out. That rear wheel is really bouncing . This bike does have a front rotor, drum rear setup. I was simply stating that my bike (same brand and model) came from the factory with a bent front rotor causing front end shake when the bent portion contacted the shoes/calipers at speed. The rear wheel balance problem is easily corrected by balancing gel/beads and can be done by just about anyone with access to a compressor. I used my local service stations free of charge. Stock rubber on these bikes is really low quality. I replaced with good tires from partsforscooters.com and balanced with RideOn gel and put good straight valve stems in while i had access. Have not had any tire issues in 10,100Km. My $0.02.

While I'm in this thread and because I don't have school anymore...do you guys have any ideas for any fun/cheap mods I can to to make my scoot run better or look cooler? I'll be really bored when not working and I figure I'll do something constructive. I'm already planning on a uni but I don't know what else to do. Maybe some LEDs? It's a 2007 Jacket 150s with a completely stock GY6 engine...I know it's a pretty cheap scooter but I'll mainly just be put-putting around on it anyways I have underbody led light strips on mine "for safety"... according to the local LEO I did it just cause you see larger bikes around here lit up like christmas trees. Also put alotta chrome on it... exhaust, cvt cover, and other trim and parts.

I know what you really meant to say: 1 mile equals 1.6 kilometers. OOPS! You're right about that. I was a bit bleary eyed when I wrote that at just about 2 in the morning and was thinking instead that 0.6 mile = 1 kilometer but it didn't get put down like that. I have this sccoot. Its KM. Ditch the stock rubber for some decent rubber and get your tires balanced or use some RideOn tire balancing/sealing gel. Also watch out for a bent rotor. Mine was bent from factory. check for spark, maybe a new spark plug, I don't believe in cleaning them. Recheck the valve lash. Fix the broken exhaust stud . John I really wish the manufacturers put steel threaded inserts in certain places on these bikes like the exhaust bolt holes and the chainguide bolts holes on the crankcase. Cant count how many times ive seen these holes stripped and cause issues.

I had an issue last year where I kept blowing my high beam, turned out my R/R was bad. Replaced it and I haven't had any issues since. Had the same issue last season. RR was putting out way to high of a voltage, guess the regulator side of it fried...
