Ok, bikes been running fine but last night it just died on me. I thought it was outta gas so i put gas in it. Still wouldnt start. I cleaned the spark plug 75 miles ago. It was sooty and oily. Theres a bad exhuast leak due to broken exhaust stud. The battery is fully charged and the engine will turn over.
My question is: where do i start?
I really appreciate when knowledgable people help out riders.

check for spark, maybe a new spark plug, I don't believe in cleaning them. Recheck the valve lash. Fix the broken exhaust stud .

John I really wish the manufacturers put steel threaded inserts in certain places on these bikes like the exhaust bolt holes and the chainguide bolts holes on the crankcase. Cant count how many times ive seen these holes stripped and cause issues.

Finger tight doesn't seal and could be causing the soot on the outside that you're referring to. If the plug isn't tight then exhaust will leak out around it meaning lost power. Not saying to lock it down with all your might, but a snugging will do just fine.
The exhaust leak could lead to problems with the valves so a month ago may not mean anything depending on how bad the leak is. Doesn't cost anything to check em again.

Toss the plug and buy a new one . you really need to fix the broken exhaust stud , and if the plug was oily ,you have other issues. You have oil reaching the plug , and you need to find were its coming from . you could have a bad head gasket or the rings could be leaking oil . possibly even a bad valve seal.

Spark plugs have crush washers, once you tighten it the crush washer is crushed and may not be able to be used again. John

My scooter was losing power today while running after yesterday cleaning the spark plug. I checked the plug today and it was fouled. I had only ridden it about 7 miles. The valves are noticebly loud also. The plug isnt hidden in a shadow. Its sooty black. Kinda oily too. The pic below is from when i pulled it yesterday.
