Ok I'm not entirely sure where to put this so I will try here.
I recently bought a TaoTao 2014 50cc scooter and it worked just fine for about 2 weeks. But now it will start up just fine but when I use the throttle it sputters and dies. No motive power at all. It idles just fine but when you try to go anywhere it just stops.
Yes I have already changed the oil, replaced the battery and made sure there was plenty of gas in it. Help please?

i had a similar problem with my taotao 50cc scoot. i cleaned the carb and it solved my problem. since yours is new i don't know if a dirty carb is your problem. i'd start with tuning your carb first and if that fails then clean the carb. other members with more knowledge than me may have some more advice for you.

I put a manual fuel shut off valve in my scooter, and if I ever forget to turn it back on, I get the same problem. It will idle OK when i start it, but as soon as I give it gas to pull away, it will die, until the remainder of the fuel in the lines are used. My point being, check your fuel system for issues. A kink in the line, or maybe your petcock is having issues. Try to let it idle for 15 minutes or so, then see what happens.

It is running Lean and needs more fuel, BUT UNFORTUNETLY your carbs Fuel Ratio Mixture is plugged. You will have to drill it out or get an aftermarket carb to be able to adjust the fuel ratio mixture. They set them really lean to pass emissions and then plug the screw up so customers do not mess with them. Here is what your most likely looks like and notice the fuel ratio screw is plugged. Yeah I would do what Alley says,,also get a manual petcock that should get you going as long as the carb is clean and you have good venting from fuel tank...

Thank you all for the help. After checking everything people mentioned it looks like it is in fact a problem with the carb. That means a replacement. So... thankfully it is still under warranty so maybe the people I bought it from will either send a replacement carb or just allow me to exchange the entire thing. /sigh either way I'm on my feet for the next few weeks.
Thanks again.

I just bought a tao tao scooter off amazon this week, 150 cc lancer. I drove it for about 2 miles where it died at a stop light. couldn't get it to start for about 10 minutes. Then it turned over and idled ... I drove it around the parking lot, stopped and started it with ease. So I continued on.sure enough about 2 miles later it died on me again.. this time I could restart it, but if I have it any gas it would die right away.. about 10 min later I was able to get it going again and drove it to my parents house and loaded it on a trailer and took it home. I have changed the oil and used premium gas as instructed. I'm a novice when it comes to scooters, but Hoping its something small so I don't have to get things replaced .

Sounds like it needs a valve adjustment. What happens is if the valves are too tight they will heat up and close even more. Then the scoot will die and you have to wait for it to cool down before starting it again.

so after changing the fuel pump and fuel filter it seems to have helped a little, but it still dies once a day in the morning in almost the same spot driving to work.. only takes like 2-3 minutes of resting until I can start it again. It will ride the rest of the day just fine. ... still annoying

Could also be the float may need adjusted . you could be running out of fuel in the carb bowl.

Im hoping this was the issue... While looking around closely for the gas smell I have been smelling for quite some time, I noticed this hose was not attached to anything!

That hose would have gone to the emissions on the scooter if it wasn't attached to anything that could have caused a lean condition due to added air being added to the system and not the unburnt fuel coming from the emissions.

Taotao is notorious for crap gas caps not venting. Check the fuel filter after it dies. Little to no fuel in it means the tanks not venting. Pop the gas cap and crank 'er over, if fuel flows you found your problem.
