7k is the highest many gy6s will get to. If it's sputtering, you may have air/fuel issues, at that RPM it's most likely using all of the main since the needle should be fully raised. You can try raising the needle more (lowering the clip on it or adding washers as spacers), if that fails, you could try upjetting the main on size.

Yeah, the rear brake should only be used for parking maneuvers and very subtle speed changes in a turn (though any need for slowing down in a turn shows you didn't enter the turn at proper speed/angle), and of course emergency stops. Using the rear brake can easily lock up the rear tire, and with all the weight on it, you can get a slide-out situation easily.

Did a brake job and replaced the belt on the Icebear, and spent the entire time explaining to my nephew how the back break shouldn't hardly ever be used. His Icebear is less than a year old, and he completely burned the rear brakes off already. Giving his buddies rides everywhere and trying to use the rear brakes instead of slowing down sooner, not a good way to ride, and I hope he got the point.
Put a cone filter on the Rocketa, then had the other nephew add a fuel filter to the valve cover vent tube and zip tie it up high on the frame. With the new carb we put on it last week, and upjetting, it's roaring like a lion now.
Did the first oil change on the SSR since adding a 61mm BBK. Good news, no shavings, looks like the rings seated just fine! About time for a new set of tires, still on the original rubber at 8k.

While I whole heartedly agree the cops should be the ones dealing with these issues, I don't have a hands free set in my helmet, and the motorcycle did not have plates. If nothing else, I hope the passenger at least got the message, and will not ride with that idiot again.
Although I believe I should not have opened my mouth in this case due to the circumstances at the time, I do not fear opening my mouth, to cops, gang bangers, or anyone else. I miss the land of the free and the Brave!

Some scooters have a kill switch attached to the side stand, preventing them from starting/running when the side stand is down.

I had a similar issue on a 50cc a couple of years ago, turned out my spark plug boot was coming loose.

This past week has been a nightmare for me on the road! I have had more than the usual number of times I had to avoid someone who was either merging right into me, or pulling out in front of me from a side street or parking lot. The sad thing is none of them was using their cellphone, so it was just plain lack of observational skills on their part that put my safety at risk. I got hit in the facemask by a soda can on the freeway. Time for a replacement facemask anyway (maybe a nice new helmet), already was scratched up a bit, now has two nice long scratches right of center. I watched a cop lead a pack of commuters going close to in a 65 zone. Yes, speeding that much chafes my hide, why did I have to pay all those speeding tickets in my youth if it's fine for the cops and everyone else to do it now. And today, I had a sport bike rider with a passenger filter at a freeway exit, both on the ramp stopping next to me second in line, and in between the two cars ahead of us as they were turning onto the road when the light turned green (filtering is illegal in Nevada). I acted foolishly and pulled up next to him at the next light (without filtering), and gave him a piece of my mind about how he was endangering his passenger, and giving all riders a bad reputation. I took off ahead of him when the light changed (he was not concentrating on his gears at first), and he decided to gun it, switch sides of the lane and filter between me and an SUV, and whacked my right mirror as he zoomed past. He had no plates on the bike, and took the next right while cutting off a truck. I at least wasn't foolish enough to follow him. I guess I should just be thankful I've logged another week of riding without an accident (26 years accident free riding now). That, and keep my eyes open!

This model comes with handlebars attached, but I always check the stem during PDI.

Glad to hear you got it worked out!
Since you bought it used, there's no telling how it was treated by it's former owner. I haven't had any troubles other than tightening it up during my PDI (force of habit), and I'm pushing 8,000 miles soon. I have had a bit of wobble in my rear, and I plan to replace the rear axle and seal soon just for safety.

I have the 2014 SSR Pacifica as well. The nut you need to adjust is behind the black piece of plastic at the top of the headlight assembly. You have to remove the headlight assembly and that black top, but not the glove box assembly on the other side. Be careful with the wires around it, they get in the way and you have to be careful not to pull to much on them or you might unseat a connector.

There's another thread that's heating up because one member refuses to wear any gear,,,I've gone down at speed it ain't pretty and it ain't fun,, Same here, though I was lucky. Went down years ago riding into Salt Lake City in a rainstorm. Got caught in cross winds when two semis passed me drafting one behind the other, ended up with a tank slapper. I let go and trusted my gear rather than get floored by my bike trying to recover. The rain was the lucky part, I slid across the freeway into the median, which was muddy so I kept sliding. Took me 5 minutes to get my helmet off due to mud being stuffed in it by the slide, but my gear saved me from any road rash or head trauma. ATGATT!!!

Does your gas tank have a vent tube going to a canister? If so, that canister is full of charcoal, and can be fouled if gas somehow gets into it (the bike is laid on it's side, or the tank is way overfilled). Drilling a 1/16" hole in the gas cap will fix venting issues without allowing spillage.

Check your valve lash, and check for any leaks in the air system.

I think it was the orientation that made him lose it. If he had been able to hit it square on, he may have made it. The angle, and inability to know it ahead of time made it almost an impossible situation.
He had a 50/50 chance of swerving in the right direction and missing it entirely, unfortunately he guessed wrong. And that is why ATGATT
