I'm having a heck of a time finding an ignition coil that matches the one currently on my 1996 Qingqi. I know it's old but I have to imagine it's out there. Any suggestions??? Battery is dead but it kickstarted a few times. Now it won't do anything. Can't get a spark on the plug so I'm thinking a new coil might be the first place to start.

Thanks Gate. I did talk to those guys and they claim they have the part but they said it would be $135 with a CDI. That's a bit more than it should cost. I just want the coil which should be less than $40, right?

Too much! You might be able to get by with subbing in a standard GY6 coil.

Hmmmm. I'm still learning my way around these things... can many of these coils be swapped in and out or does it have to be a specific coil for my scooter? I noticed mine has 2 wires (blue and grey) coming from it. If I find a 2 cyl 50cc coil that has 2 pins should I be able to wire it into this scooter?
Any advice would help! Thanks for helping out and self-admitted noob.

I think this may be the one you're looking for. $36.65 + 9.66 s&h, USD. EBAY LINK
You may need to attach a boot and re-use/re-wire the pick-up/ground etc etc.....

Hey, I'm searching for the same part but I can't seem to find one available. The above eBay link is no longer active. Can anyone provide an online store where I could get this ignition coil?

Lain, wow! I thought this thread was a longshot. I'll message you with my details and would be happy to pay for shipping+. I would like to keep the parts as true as possible for this piece of garbage bike I now own.

It pays to keep all the junk you rip off old bikes haha. Except parts that are beyond useable I save everything, and even some unuseable stuff I reporpose; like an old clutch spring makes a great desk pen holder, old rear light assemblies make great wall decorations, before you know it you'll feel like your in a crappy american restaurant like Applebees lol.
I'll be able to check on Wednesday, it's a bit of a ride for me but I was planning on going anyways. I'll keep you updated.

Maybe you can help me. Bought this 50b at a yard sale with only 300 miles on it. No battery. Once I got the battery, i turn the key, it attempts to start. I pulled the spark plug and noticed nothing firing. I replaced the plug with the same result. I also replaced the voltage regulator rectifier thinking that was the issue. Still no luck. I've been checking the wiring for the ignition coil for continuity but I'm getting mixed results. So I've read that a lot of other mopeds have a kill switch other than the left/front brake and key ignition. Am I missing something?

Some scooters have a kill switch attached to the side stand, preventing them from starting/running when the side stand is down.

Honestly the coils are give-or-less the same if they are made for the same type of engines. Your top end is a generic gy6 2 stroke, so practically any 2 stroke gy6 parts should work.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I won't be able to check to see if I have one for another week or so.
