While LEDs seem to be working well for auxiliary driving or daylight running lights, I have yet to see where anyone found LED lamps approved for full on headlight. I have a few LED aux lamps to try out this season.

I rigged up a 45/45 H4 in place of the original 18/18 BA20D.
I added a volt meter, and I have 13V at idle and 14.7V at cruising, high or low beam. I have LED for all my other lamps.
The H4 has not melted anything. BUT the big problem with the H4 is the tip has a coating that casts a huge shadow in front of the bike. I have just ordered a DC HID kit. EFI is coming very soon. If I do have any low voltage issues, I will lean toward a stator upgrade.

I forgot, I did get a second scooter for my GF, but she deemed it too tall and wont touch it - the Znen more classic styled. I've never ridden two up. 8hp has enough work to do with my fat as$

I like al0one, I like groups. I have no buddy to ride with, besides the groups. There is a Genuine Scooter "family reunion" this weekend in Chicago - a 3 hour ride, each way, plus the ride at the gathering. scooterworkschicago.com/ai1ec_event/genuine-family-reunion-ride/?instance_id=40(A Blur or Buddy 170i would be sweet.) I asked if anyone was riding from my area, no response. If I grab a ramp today, I will plan to carry the scooter in the van to near the meet and unload and do the local ride. If I dont get the ramp, I probably wont go at all.

For the screws - I use a Dremel with the thin cut off wheel, usually I use a worn down one for the smaller radius to cut a slot for a straight blade screw driver. Then replace the screws with an Allen style. Even if you have a working reservoir window, undoing the screws and redoing them a few times a year saves the grief. Don't over torque them. A tiny amount of anti-seize my help too - don't get it into the fluid. Just enough to prevent the galvanic reaction.

Xingyue ITA 150 - mostly stock with up jet. forget whats in there now. My best long distance ride and check:- Brookfield to Lake Geneva on Sunday May 27, 2012 degrees, gusty. My longest ride by over 60 miles. 150cc, 8hp, 16" wheels. Into the wind top speed downhill was 53. Coming back, going down a nice hill I got 66mph. 2 hour 20 minute round trip including downtown Lake Geneva tourist traffic, and a few minutes for a drink of water where I turned around at Midwest Action. 83 miles, 62mpg @ mostly WOT. Once I get the EFI, air filter and exhaust done, I will have new answers.

a few years ago the online scooter sites wouldn't ship to Wisconsin.
I nearly had to go home and bring back my Znen to the DMV to get it registered, but they used the pics in had on my phone to approve the Chinese scooter. I took pics of the serial number plate and the federal plate and whatever else, so it was no problem. The Znen had previously been registered in FL.
I saw a post on Facebook yesterday from MRP that asked if anyone knew what was happening with Jonway and another scooter brand I don't recall. MRP said the phone numbers were no longer working for either (USA) office.

just below that hot pink car, and a little to the left, there is a red with black scooter. The operator is wearing a helmet, but the two passengers are not.
on the right side of the photo, just to the left of the green scooter by the yellow marked sidewalk ramp, there is a red scooter with two riders with red helmets and a little girl riding in front of the operator.
Behind the blue Isuzu is a rider in a red vest and gold helmet, with a passenger sans helmet.
Looks like all operators have helmets - the scooter on the far left facing away is parked and his helmet is on the right hand handlebar.

I've had the scooter for a couple years now, put5000 miles on myself. I've been looking all along for a headlight improvement. The stock BA20D is low power, and a bit fragile, and used to be fairly expensive but now I see many sources at reasonable prices. Yesterday I saw 35/35watt BA20D bulb, and even a 40/45! The soft metal contacts in the OEM socket are just that - soft, and wont hold tension on the bulb. I finally stuck in an H4 45/45 with zip-ties. But the aluminum coated tip casts a huge shadow in front of the scooter. I thought about going back to the BA20D 45/40. Until now HID Bi-xenon (HI and LO beams in one bulb), with an assortment of adapters for H4 and BA20D and something else. The even come in AC or DC style. www.ebay.com/itm/HID-KIT-Motorcycle-bi-xenon-head-light-hi-lo-dual-sport-h4-ba20d-h6m-ktm-yamaha-/370799278526?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56555bf9be&vxp=mtrI don't really care which type I get, I can always add relay and wiring for DC. *One seller mentioned that AC lasts longer... donno if that is true of not.* One big thing I would like to add is a timer to not start the headlight - or all the lights until 5 to 10 seconds after firing up. Besides an ignition hot toggle switch, a timer turns the lights on automatically, so no worries about forgetting. One reason to delay the headlight start up is the inconsistent current draw. And since I am going to EFI shortly, a brief delay lets the battery regain after dropping the cranking amps. Except for the headlight and instrument panel, my bulbs are all LED already. Tons of possibilities and variables. Now I just need a timer.
