I've had the scooter for a couple years now, put5000 miles on myself. I've been looking all along for a headlight improvement. The stock BA20D is low power, and a bit fragile, and used to be fairly expensive but now I see many sources at reasonable prices. Yesterday I saw 35/35watt BA20D bulb, and even a 40/45! The soft metal contacts in the OEM socket are just that - soft, and wont hold tension on the bulb. I finally stuck in an H4 45/45 with zip-ties. But the aluminum coated tip casts a huge shadow in front of the scooter. I thought about going back to the BA20D 45/40. Until now HID Bi-xenon (HI and LO beams in one bulb), with an assortment of adapters for H4 and BA20D and something else. The even come in AC or DC style. www.ebay.com/itm/HID-KIT-Motorcycle-bi-xenon-head-light-hi-lo-dual-sport-h4-ba20d-h6m-ktm-yamaha-/370799278526?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56555bf9be&vxp=mtrI don't really care which type I get, I can always add relay and wiring for DC. *One seller mentioned that AC lasts longer... donno if that is true of not.* One big thing I would like to add is a timer to not start the headlight - or all the lights until 5 to 10 seconds after firing up. Besides an ignition hot toggle switch, a timer turns the lights on automatically, so no worries about forgetting. One reason to delay the headlight start up is the inconsistent current draw. And since I am going to EFI shortly, a brief delay lets the battery regain after dropping the cranking amps. Except for the headlight and instrument panel, my bulbs are all LED already. Tons of possibilities and variables. Now I just need a timer.
