If you up grade your engine, you also need to up grade your CVT. Roller weights, clutch springs. cdi's cut RPM's not MPH.to protect the engine from over reving. Rider weight also adds load.

When I changed to a performance pipe, up jetted and open element air filter. I had to put heavier roller weights in. Stock I had 4 gram rollers and went up to 4.5 gram rollers. I also put stiffer clutch springs in to make it launch harder. A stiffer contra spring will make it go up hills better. Remember when you rev it on the stand it's under no load so every time you change something you have to ride it to see if it's better or worse.

When you changed the pipe, put in the # jet and the open air filter and it ran great up to 30mph. Did you try different roller weights at that point. Sounds like you might have been on the right track but didn't do any thing to the cvt.

What size jet and is that performance filter an open element filter? Also did you do anything to the CVT like change the roller weights? I don't think its your cdi.

Pull your oil line at the carb. and fire it up to see if oil is pumping up to the carb.

If it runs good on the stand and bogs like it wants to stall when the tire is on the ground. try removing the stock air box and put an open element air filter on. It might need more air than the stock air box is giving it.

Check a Yamaha dealer they might have one for Yamaha 2-strokes if not try Haynes Scooter service and repair manual. It's a Chinese scooter repair manual but they are basically the same. They cover 2-stroke and 4-stroke. 50 to 200 cc scooters.
