Hey Kat, Suffice to say, this forum is not a place to get into a deeper discussion on this topic. That being said......
There was a time in this country when hearing the words on the big screen..."Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" sent the nation into a tizzy. It was a banned word, it was considered profanity. Many were outraged it made its way onto the screen. If any of you are blessed to have parents or grandparents who were alive during that time, they can tell you how it was.....Today, it wouldn't even be noticed. So what happened?
If you'd like we can have this discussion privately. Just send me a PM if you want

Kat, I guess every generation feels like "the old days" were better, happier and reflected better morals and ethics. Problem is, they're always right... This world ain't gettin' any better except for technology, and TOO much of THAT gets used for the wrong reasons. Make the best of it, and keep ringin' them bells! Leo (Betty and the cats too). How one defines "The old days" probably has to do more with when we were each kids....Then is was a time when the innocence of our childhood made us happier. Then we had to grow up, ending the innocence. Me? I got my first scooter at age 53...My wife called it my mid-life crisis. ;-) Perhaps it's me trying to gain back some of that time of innocence. Alexis de Tocqueville was a French political thinker and historian back in the 1800's. He once visited America and made this observation.... “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” For almost 200 years, our kids in public schools were taught morals and ethics from the Bible ...I can't help but think that's what once made us a "good people." Taking those moral/ethics lessons away from our kids, imo has proven to be devastating to our country.,

I'm going to go with Scootnwinn on this one. It seems to me there is a better chance of getting a good working bike off of Craigslist from someone who wants to sell their scoot because they either want to upgrade or decided they don't use it that much. Sinocard, what city do you live near? I often surf Craigslist just to see what's going on in the market. If i see anything, I can let you know.

This year, after 53 previous ones, I decided I needed experience "what the ride" was all about. Having never been a rider before, I too purchased Burgman AN400....08 model. I have had only one issue which was getting the rear tire off. The collar was stuck. After trying myself, I gave up and brought to a dealer. The shop I brought it to even had a hard time getting it off. I'm sure this is not a design issue. It's just I got "lucky". ;-) Some have mentioned the bike being heavy. I guess it's all relative. In the beginning it was a heavy bike for me, but as I have gotten more experience, the bike doesn't seem as heavy as it once did.
Looking forward to your pictures

Yep, rode today. Even made a video. Enjoy! Matt I dunno....I'm just not impressed with riders standing up and riding with one hand. But that's just me.

Ran around town...hardware store to get electric switch for the ceiling fan light ....went to Walmart to get oil and oil filters for the cars that are in need of change. Stopped by Walgreen's to get something for my sinus infection.... all in all a very pleasant ride.Btw...it's sunny and in the mid 50's here in Houston...which is actually below average for this time of year

"I had a friend that fell from the back of a truck as it was pulling away from a stop, he hit his head and was severely injured, he spent a year in rehab and was never the same after that."
I would bet that 100% of those who severely injured themselves because they weren't wearing a helmet, wish they had been wearing one. I can't imagine...even from the most pride-filled person, ever saying "I know I hurt myself really bad, and I may never be the same again, but I'm sure glad I didn't have a helmet on, the wind felt great right before the wreck. "
Just sayin

I'm too new at this to be riding in 30 degree weather. Perhaps its because I don't have the proper gear or perhaps its because I'm not into freezing my butt off....whatever....enjoy your rides.;-)

I could be wrong about this but, I have the impression that those riders who choose the feel of the wind rather than wearing a helmet, believe that they are such good riders they think they're not going to get into an accident. The problem with that is, they're forced to share the road with not so good drivers and riders. At any given time anything, including a YAWN can be dangerous. Thanks for sharing Leo. Anytime, I feel a yawn coming on, I'll be sure to remember your story.
Pride comes before the fall....;-)

One problem is however,.....if your quote is one that someone else decides to block-quote....there's no getting rid of it. Besides, deleting a post after others have responded to it, is just not right.

"Hot Flash! You are going to die. Really! All you can do is enjoy life while you can"
...and its very likely that many of the people who have died would still be around enjoying life, if they'd been wearing a helmet.
