I rode motorcycles a few times, ever since, I've wanted some sort of 2 wheel vehicle scooters seem just right. I'm just looking for something to get me around town. So, recommend something for me What I need in a scooter: able to seat 2 durability. under 1200 I don't really care about the style honestly. I'm more worried about quality. Also looking for something from one of those websites, so I guess, recommend me a good online dealer where I could find whatever scooters you recommend as well! Thanks

Unfortunately, you are not going to find anything under $1200 that can take two people on the freeway safely. For that you need a 250cc, and that's going to cost you bare minimum $1500, more likely over $2000. A 150 can take a single person on the freeway for short distances, and can be found for under $1200, so that may fit your needs if you don't have two people riding on the freeway, and you don't take long rides on the freeway either.
Around town, a 150cc should suit you fine.

Depends if you have the skills to work on it if it breaks down or needs maintenance if your good with tools a china bike is fine if not you'll need to put more money in it and get a brand name bike Honda, vespa, buddy, kymco, sym,or at least a bms.

My dad has just about every tool imaginable, so I'm thinking working on it wouldn't be too much of a problem. I'd love to learn to work on my own vehicle anyways. How much time do you think I'd get out of a cheap china bike before it eventually has its first break down?

I have had many china bikes and they have done me good but I replace all the cheap parts at under 10 miles including the motor. I think a china bike can last thousands of miles stock if you do the maintenance in a timely manner oil changes etc. Change the oil when you get it make sure it has a gates belt in it or get one you'll be fine. I paid 1129 for my bike shipped and I love it.

A lot of Bintelli owners rave about their scooters. Tomos has scooters as does SYM. It's difficult finding anything brand new under $1,200 that's worth while.

How much time do you think I'd get out of a cheap china bike before it eventually has its first break down? Some are inoperable right out of the crate, some wait until you get a ways from the house, some never (or so I hear) I put 2000 on one and only had to push it once but no one knows. Seriously buy a used bike its a much better crap shoot...

Don't buy garbage. Save yourself many headaches and get something that only requires routine maintenance to stay running.

My first china bike my tapout scoot had many problems at the beginning as why I joined the original scootdawg forum. If you don't want to replace most the parts sooner or later get a quality scoot. I buy china bikes and replace nearly every part besides the plastic so I got a 150 that I liked the looks on and put the parts I wanted in it. I believe its reliable and I don't worry that it will strand me but I could of got a quality brand bike for less than the parts I put in my china bike. I like to mod them its most of the fun for me. I would be bored if I bought something that didn't need taken apart. I replaced all the parts from the start and recently replaced the piston kit and head at 600 miles just because, probably will get bored by the end of the coming summer and replace the motor parts again. Went from a no name 60mm kit to a 61mm ncy probably will eventually get the case bored or buy a new engine casing and do a 63mm taida forged piston kit and a stroker crankshaft. The parts are cheap even the name brand stuff on the cheap china scoots. After I'm totally done the only parts that came on the scoot originally will be the plastic and the wiring.
