Man i am sooo stoked right now. just got done setting up delivery and down payment on a '04 Burgman 400an. should be here by this next Thursday or Friday. Nice GLX Modular 2 visor helmet should be here Tuesday. Gonna feel so nice to get back to riding after about a 2-3 year slump of not being able to. Definitely gonna post pics when i get it.

Enjoy but don't let the power go to your head.
The new helmet is a start in the right direction. Please get a Level 3 armored jacket, decent gloves and some over the ankle riding boots to go along with a heavy scoot like the Burgman.
Ride safe!

Woo Hoo! Nice scoot!
In my "quest" for the right larger-displacement scoot for my old arthritic bones, I test-rode several Burgman 400's. I like 'em a LOT. Only reason I passed for a Kymco 250 was that the arthritis makes it hard for me to even climb over the low, "semi-hump" on Burgmans, Honda Reflexes, Kymco Excitings, etc. I need a flat floor, step-through scoot.
That long wheelbase and larger engine is a sweet combination, ESPECIALLY when you shoot onto the freeway! Something tells me the wait will be worth it!
I don't think some years and miles on the Japanese scoots do them any harm. They seem to last forever, with only minor maintenance now and then... My "new" old Kymco is probably not as stout as the Japanese scoots, but it's an '07 with 14,000 miles. It needed a clutch, belt, rollers, brake-pads, muffler/headpipe and tires. So... the rider decided he'd rather trade it on a $5,000+ new fuel-injected 300. The dealer did the replacements and gave me decent deal, including trading in my old Chinese 150. With all that mileage (mostly ridden 2-up on the highway at 70mph) the Kymco still has no rattles, and performs great... AND even gives better gas mileage than my old 150.
I'll bet your Burgman will be even a whole lot nicer for you!
Enjoy the ride! And please DO post pix!

I really like the B 400. One of my neighbors here in the RV park has one and thinks it is too heavy, likes my Reflex. I could probably trade straight across, they are both 07s but I would have to build a completely new rack on the back of the motor home. According to the specs the B is 114 lbs. heavier plus larger. Would take a larger stronger rack mounted differently. I'll just stay with the Reflex.

It weighs in at 328 lbs so it can be carried easily on a basic ramp loading hitch rack without adding additional receivers or modding the rear suspension on my motorhome. It gets to interstate speeds sprightly enough and will head along past mph so I have no real need however the temptation to get more displacement is always there. When I was in camping in Clermont there was a couple with a Silver Wing and the Burgman 400 who were selling the Burgman to lighten their load to be able to take their elderly parents and their belongings with them. Could have picked it up for around $3,000 but had no way to transport it unless I rented a trailer however I left the draw bar and hitch ball behind in my garage since I had the rack for the bike mounted.

I'll try to take a picture of my rack today and post it here. It is also an extended hitch so we can tow our Smart car.

Definitely getting decent gear since this is going to be my long trip vehicle. Gotta be able to get me from Indiana to Washington and back and do it as safely as possible in all types of weather. going to be doing a lot of camping on my trips as well so needed something with storage room. going to be adding saddle bags to go with the nice sized under seat storage thinking should be enough for tent, tarps, sleeping bag, food, water, a spare 2 gallon gas can, and some spare clothes, might get a tunnel bag as well to help with that

We are a long way from New Hampshire. We are presently spending the winter in Yuma AZ where the nights get down to 50-55 and the days are 65-70. And every day is a riding day.

There's just something irresistible about a CAR that seems smaller than some SCOOTERS... There are a BUNCH of Smart Cars in my area... They are pretty popular. Enjoy the ride!Leo in Texas

This year, after 53 previous ones, I decided I needed experience "what the ride" was all about. Having never been a rider before, I too purchased Burgman AN400....08 model. I have had only one issue which was getting the rear tire off. The collar was stuck. After trying myself, I gave up and brought to a dealer. The shop I brought it to even had a hard time getting it off. I'm sure this is not a design issue. It's just I got "lucky". ;-) Some have mentioned the bike being heavy. I guess it's all relative. In the beginning it was a heavy bike for me, but as I have gotten more experience, the bike doesn't seem as heavy as it once did.
Looking forward to your pictures
