I just got my 80cc bbk running and took her for a little spin, but i feel like shes running a little to hot, would my next step to be adjust f/a mix then set idle and start checking the plug to see if shes running lean or rich?

I live in florida as well and actually know a good deal about the laws here (ex forensic investigator student) and the only way they will find out is if they take it to a shop and have the mechanic measure and calculate the size and power of your engine and trust me most cops are way too lazy (no offense i just know some) and are not willing to do all the paper work required. How ever i have spoken with some saying that if they see a scooter thats stamped 49 or 50cc but your going like 50-60+ on their radar they may pull over and just give you a speeding ticket if your speeding other than that they really dont care as long as your not "disturbing" traffic

since my scooter is apart i was thinking about adding a tach as well. do i have to worry about getting a better electrical system to handle it? if not can i get some links to good ones doesnt have to be cheap id be willing to spend like 30-40 dollars on it i guess.

tbh i had the same thing happen to me and its next to impossible to get those studs. I had to go to a local scooter shop and they just happened to have an extra pair laying around that they guy was willing to give me . nappa has something close its a 5mm stud but they dont have the same size as stock the only have smaller ones which still work but are a little harder to put in. and the one thats left in there good luck getting it out, their basically welded in there from the heat. what i did was i cut it down to the head and got a smaller size left handed drill, drilled it out a bit and then changed the angel of the drill a bit so it would bite hard and it knocked it loose.

ok thanks again alleyoop. i just looked over the wireing, its a little hard becuase most of its in a wiring harness but its all hooked up to the battery terminals so i shouldnt have to worry about that part atleast.
yes i checked to make sure my killswitch was on i will hook up the battery and make sure everything is in place and check again thanks very much.

oh and i replaced the spark plug wire and the cdi so i know it has to be the stator. or can there be something else wrong in this equation?

no spark

Since this has gone off topic of my throttle cable post i figured id start a new one. AS the topic states im not getting spark on my 139qmb 50cc 4 stroke. I checked on two different plugs just to make sure and still no spark. TBH idk if the battery needs to be hooked up to check spark or, if it all comes from the stator. So my first question would be, do i need to have the battery hooked up to check for spark? ive watched a couple videos and all the ones i watched, the guys had their scooters fully assembled and mine isnt.

to be honest it really depends on how mechanically inclined you are. I bought a 50cc from a dealership i cant remember the price but i remember getting for around the price for those scooters in a box. I rode it for 4k miles and nothing went wrong with it until i started messing around with my carb and leaned it out too much and basically blew my engine. Now im in the midst of an 80cc bbk with no mechancial backround, taking it apart and putting it all backtogether wasnt hard althought i probs had about 20 hours worth of research before i did it. and now that its all backtogether i am having a hard time getting it to start. there are a lot of great people on this forum willing to help you with all your problems, im sure youve seen some of my post if youve browsed the forums. So if you really want to learn about scooters and enjoy working and learning about stuff like this id recommend getting a bike in a box, if not id recommend going to a dealership and buying one from them.

oh and i also over torgued a valve cover bolt and stripped the thread in my brand new big valve head its on the bottum left. Is it absolutly vital to have all 4 on there? i really dont want to go buy a tap. is there some kind of sealant like jb weld i can use or should i go buy the tap and tap it out? if i have to buy a tap what size tap should i get? the same size as the bolt ihave for it now or the next size up? would it be recommened to stay with metric thread?
