Was out riding today and on the way home, the scoot got really loud and started backfiring. I got home and looked and the exhaust is off, idk how it happened. But it got me baffled.  If anyone can tell me what i need to fix it I would very much love you forever. |

[replyingto=steelace]steelace[/replyingto]Hopefully. the stud fell out. In which case it would be very simple. get a set of exhaust studs, and a gasket and just replace them. However, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like it snapped off, In which case it's not so easy. You need to remove the head and try to extract the stud with an easy out. If thats the case, youre better off getting a new head, as you will need new gaskets & studs. If you do buy a head, you need to get the studs and exhaust gasket seperate. I wish you the best of luck and it just fell out.

Thanks for the info, I hope it didn't snap off...... That will tear me apart. I just don't see how it would have though..... No evidence of it hitting something.

You have to get down there and snug the nuts up or atleast check them often,,they will vibrate loose if not,,eventually.
If it snapped off maybe you have enough stud sticking out after the flange is off,,to grab it with a needle vise grip and turn it out,,then just get another stud,,not sure if they are 6mm or not,,home depot has all that stuff,,cut it to the right size and screw it back in...may need a new gasket there also,,hopefully you dont need to remove/replace the head for that!
If you cant get it by drilling a small hole in it and using an eazy out,,you can find a friend with a welder and tack a small shank to it,,then back it out...just trying to tell you what i would do...
Homedepot has the eazy outs,,get the smallest one,,you will get this fixed!

And if you get lucky, and just need to replace it, use a lockwasher and above all DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!! You could snap it or even worse, strip it right out of the threads. That aluminum is soft. Just snug it up ;D If it leaks, tighten a little more

I just took off the exhaust, it did indeed snap off inside, looks like its diaganal as well. Will post pics of it first thing in the morning. I am hoping this wont cost too much to fix or replace.

Your gonna replace the whole head and deal with gaskets,cam chain,tensioners,timing,valves adjusted,and all that instead of just trying to get the stud out,,Im lost  Atleast BBK it |

 i would try to get it out before i replace the whole head. if you can get a pair of vice grips on it then you will save yourself alot of time and a little money. (i would think) i'm certain it is possible to drill it out. you would probably need to put it on a stand though so you have more room to work.

He could even up a size after he drills it out to 7mm or 5/16.
