I've been dealing with Scrappy Dog Scooters for my mods so far. Upgrades: - NGK CR8HIX Iridium spark plug - Performance CDI - Performance ignition coil - Pre-jetted carb, # - Performance air filter I use high octane gas just to keep everything clean, and haven't changed the first oil yet. What's next? Mo from Scrappy Dog suggests rollers, but I'm not sure what weight will work. I weigh around 150 lbs. and can barely get it over 6000 rpm, even with the new CDI (it will rev all the way on center stand). Does anyone know the stock roller weight for this model? I don't want to go in there twice (once to weigh, again to replace). Should I try anything else while I do the rollers? Also, I'm having a hard time tuning the carb to keep a good idle. When I tune it on a hot engine, the next day it will bottom out. I have to keep throttle going for a while. Is this normal? Thanks!

That's a great idea! I didn't even know that they had roller kits like that. I suppose that I should probably get a kevlar belt too at this point.
Other than that, and besides a bbk, what are some other worthy mods?

for me i LOVE my 100cc bbk really its a 80cc but it has a 50mm piston!!! stock is 39mm rollar weights help alot re jet carb (some include) when buying a bbk just buy one with all upgrades included like a9 cam and a performace exhaust (match ur scoot) unlim cdi pod air filter a must with new exhaust always use octane (cleans and runs smoother) so go for the 100cc bbk with most stuff included (ur gona buy them anyway if not) after that then u can get clutch and springs but i hear it isnt that much difference unless u change final gear which isnt easy kevlar are long lasting and help performance Variator (lets belt ride higher =more top end) hope that helps

From my understanding, if I do a bbk, then I won't fall under the 49cc law in Florida to not need insurance. Is that correct or is there no way for them to know? I was planning on keeping it as stock 49cc as possible and upgrading everything around it for best performance.

Ok, so I took out the rollers and weighed them. 5g stock!
I guess I will get the roller kit, but what should I be looking for here if I'm already at 5g and I can't get over 6000 rpm with my current mods?

I have a 2012 CY50-A With 5g. I had 4g sliders and they made it waste gas by over revving with no speed gain. Also I have a spare carb with a main jet and free flow air filter and it seems to run rich and wouldn't go as fast and had bad acceleration like it was running rich. I adjusted the mix screw a little but it still seemed sluggish so I went back to stock. Haven't had the time or patience to fully determine the cause. I mixed stock rollers with 4gram sliders. Goes slightly faster and better acceleration.

look for restrictions first other then that im not up for 7000rpm idk what im at but it is fast and still reves high for 7.5g rollors i need 8 or 9gs
get a open filter and exhaust then u will see a increase more air = more power
exhaust for more flow

There was no spacer washer by my variator, and it's not the CDI, so maybe the exhaust now? I'll have to check. I doubt 4g will do anything for me, and higher doesn't sound right either.

I live in florida as well and actually know a good deal about the laws here (ex forensic investigator student) and the only way they will find out is if they take it to a shop and have the mechanic measure and calculate the size and power of your engine and trust me most cops are way too lazy (no offense i just know some) and are not willing to do all the paper work required. How ever i have spoken with some saying that if they see a scooter thats stamped 49 or 50cc but your going like 50-60+ on their radar they may pull over and just give you a speeding ticket if your speeding other than that they really dont care as long as your not "disturbing" traffic

paul - there is always a chance you may have too much jet. If your exhaust can't move all the air the open filter can bring in, it wont do you any good. If that jet is too big, you could be getting way too much gas for optimal combustion. The only way to know for sure is to experiment - drop the needle one notch at a time to see if it runs better at WOT. If no difference, try raising it up from where it was one notch at a time. If it runs better at either extreme, you may need to go up or down a jet size. You should be revving nice and high with 5g rollers!
How exactly are you trying to tune the idle?
And of course check the valve clearance if it hasn't been done recently.

I installed 3x3g + 3x5g rollers for a total of 4g today and gained the RPM increase that I was looking for. I guess the next step is to go with 5g sliders? Can I keep the rollers in there or are they temporary?
