[replyingto=mwlehman]mwlehman[/replyingto]I am not sure about stock, hers was a fuel injected one I switched over to carbed and it will hit 60 on the dash, I suspect about 55 with GPS,
mine was injected also but now carbed, it is a little slower, I put an aftermarket piston and cylinder on it and it is not as fast as it was with stock stuff.
but...both the VIP Chinese scooters with let the Aprilia SR`s sit in the dust, they really run, they just are not as comfortable to ride

We ride all over here in Cape coral and Ft Myers, her Aprilia had 600 miles 4 weeks ago, mine had 3200 when I bought it , we have 2 VIP scooters also that have 3000 miles each on them, we find we take the Aprilia SR`s out more because they seem to sit a little nicer Attachments:

the reason yu have the timing advanced on motors is because the combustion process take some time, and you want to give the mixture as much time as possible to burn...but when the motor is turn low rpms the mixture has more time to burn and an initial advanced timing can cause problems such as detonation en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_knocking , as motor rpms go up there is less and less time for mixture to burn so most ignitions have an advance built into them to keep lighting the mixture sooner and sooner

wait..do not laugh at the guy, he was trying something and it may or may not work, at least he is trying something and posting for all to see jeffery5568...I did the same thing but a different way..I slotted the hole in the pickup where it mounts to the cases..I slotted them as far as it would go and pushed it the whole way. seems to be fine. I do run + octane as I have no base gaskets on 50mm BBK
51, wow! How big of a tire did you manage to squeeze on there? My scoot came stock with / /12s on it. When the rear needed replacing, I didn't think it through very well and ordered a 110/100/12 to replace it. That was massive! So tall that I didn't even attempt to install it on the rear. I put it on the front and ordered another 120/70/12 to put on the rear, which is still a good bit taller than the original.
I have a 120/ /10 tire on it, yesterday I made the pin that separates the 2 halves of the front variator shorter and slightly thinned the outer variator half where it butts up the shorter pin in an effort to get the front variator to force the belt higher up the ramp..I like to try little things to see if they work..I drove sprintcars in Pa for 25yr and just cannot help myself. The only bad thing is she is really walking the Aprilia now, I did not have a GPS on us but the Aprilia speedo was at 57-59mph and she was walking still me

my wife`s vip is at 51mph on GPS, we did the following to it, 50mm bbk, cam, KN type airfilter, exhaust, coil, cdi, rejetted, 5g sliders, 1k spring in rear variator, timing advances by slotting holes on magnetic pickup, compression raised, no base gasket, bigger OD rear tire(had to grind part of engine cases away to get it to fit, weight reduction, took out kickstarter and other item not needed to lose weight.
I have an Aprilia SR50 and she walks me from a standing start

make sure it is smooth, no deep scratches, clean and oil free, put a thin layer on both parts and you will be good to go, I run octane in them both, not sure if I need t as I do not notice and rattling from detonation

My wife`s VIP is running with 50mm bbk, cam, race cdi, coil, exhaust and no base gasket, I even slotted the magnetic pickup and advanced the timing on it..it runs pretty strong, stays right with my Aprilia SR50, it even out pulls it from a standing start
