Glad that you are OK!
Now that the you hit the ground with your helmet, buy a new helmet!
It can have microscopic cracks. When I crashed my insurance company said I had to change helmet and they paid for a new one.

When you did the BBK did you remove the green part on the case gasket? If not, I suspect that the piece you found is from that part of the gasket...

The connector might be for the front lights...
Blue wire should be for high beam. White wire should be for low beam. Brown wire should be for parking lights. Green wire should be ground.

Based on the location of the connector I would suspect it's a connector to the kill switch on the side stand. But if I remeber correctly the connecter to the side stand should have 3 wires...
Anyway, if it's the connector to the side stand it would explain why it starts with the kick starter and not the electric starter. But it shouldn't effect the headlight...

I would concentrate on the flooding problem first and when that is fixed move on to the compression issue.
And when you have fixed the flooding problem, I would change the oil! A good part of the fuel from the flooding can now be mixed in with the oil...

About flooding, I would remove the fuel hose from the carburetor and crank the engine. If fuel only comes out of the hose when cranking the engine the fuel petcock is OK and the problem is to be found in the carb. After that I would clean and check the carb properly (especially the float) and re-check the valve clearances.

If you done a BBK you'll need to change the battery cables. The original battery cables are crap! The core of the cables are too small. The area of core is too small to push enough juice to the starter. Buy some jumper cables and use them as battery cables on your scooter. Change both positive and negative cables... Worked perfectly on my scoot. There is also a high torque starter you could buy. But you need good battery cables any way to push enough juice to it. Taida GY6 High Torque Starter

People will have differing opinions on gauge, but a cheap easy trick is to use the wires from some old jumper cables. Agree!

The original battery cables are crap! The core of the cables are too small, it's only the red rubber around the cables which are a bit thicker. The area of core is too small to push enough juice to the starter. Check your battery cables and if they are as bad as mine, buy some jump starter cables and use them as battery cables on your scooter. Change both positive and negative cables...

All the 1022s are great firearms. A friend of mine had one with a stainless steel receiver. I still have my Ruger Mark II pistola. Looks like a little Luger. I started with a Ruger Mark II and it is perfect as an entry-level weapon for target shooting. But when one gradually becomes better one will need a gun that is better and more precise. At that point I bought a Hämmerli SP20 which is in a completely different league for target shooting than the Ruger Mark II, the price is also in a nother ball park.

Good to hear you came out on the right side of that!
I bet the thing that sliced into your knee was the start key. When I crashed the key came straight into my kneecap and broke it into two. It still is in two pieces but it doesn't effect me in any way.
I hope you will have a speedy recovery!

What is this empty connector? Looks like it could be to the auto choke on the carb. Is this connector empty?

Here's an image of the lift of Original, A8 and A14 cams I measured. The A14 cam compressed the valve springs to the max, couldn't even get a feeler gauge in between the springs. The lobs on the A14-cam is like on a "flat nose cam", and it's really heavy to turn the engine around when the valves are on the top of the lobs. I have an A12 cam also but haven't measured it or I can't find the image of it... The cams I measured had the same lift (or a slight difference) on both intake and outtake. The biggest problem with these chinese cams is that the chain sprocket is only pressed on the cam. If it's slightly off the timing will be totally off also! As I understand the big hole in the sprocket should be aligned with the "red marking" on the image below: No marking for better visual:
