Coming home from work on Dec 28th, I had a bad head-on. The guy stated he was blinded by lights in his mirror, and turned left into my lane, then proceeded to turn back towards me. I tried to go behind him, but when he turned towards me it was all over. I clipped his fender and landed on the car. I do not remember a thing after seeing his lights turn back toward me, until i was in the ambulance. Full face helmet did it's job. Had a fat lip, but no serious head injury. Broke both arms, and had bones sticking out of my right arm. Something sliced into my knee and did some damage to the kneecap, but they cleaned it and stapled that. I've been unable to do anything, and am just now getting some movement and mobility in my hands. They had to put steel hardware in both arms. Bike was destroyed, and for all my pain, I at least did some serious damage to his car as well. Be careful, I always say you are a target when riding, and now I have the scars to prove it. Kev

Oh gosh, Kev, I am so sorry about you being in an accident. And so glad you weren't killed. Gosh. I hope his insurance has been taking good care of you!
It'll be hard now that you're starting to heal up, but do not jump onto two wheels too soon. Take the time to recover--both body and mind.
Meanwhile you can spend lots of time on the scooter forums!

Damn! That's some crazy damage! I've been thinking of putting those LED strips ppl put on motorcycles on my scoot to raise visibility. What do you guys think, do these help?

Kevin
First and above all else, I am thrilled God did not decide it was your time to come home! Bones will heal as long as there is some "you" left inside of you. Terrible, terrible what happened, but so glad you made it through. Like Kat said - rest up!
And then ---- what a stark reminder of just how vulnerable we all are on 2 wheels ..... especially on little scooters. Without a roll cage and metal surrounding us, we simply have no protection but what we wear. Thanks for reminding us all.

Lain. On 2 wheels it's critical to be seen and heard.
Get lots of lights. Get flashers for both headlights and stop lights. Get some air horns.
Survive to see another scooter.

Night is always dangerous. In fact, its more dangerous now than 20 years ago... so many people have super bright HID lights. Glad you made it out alive. Do whatever physical therapy they give you.

Not only super bright, but poorly adjusted. Then a lot have 4 lights. I can't count how many times I've had to slow down when passing an oncoming car, thinking, if a deer (or anything) ran out in front of me right now--I'm hitting it. Especially on the back roads.

howdy, i do want to send glad tidings that you are alive after that kind of wild finnish. i know from experience that long and discouraging days will be frequent for quite a while. i had 8 years of that and am back riding without so much fear as concern to do as much as possible to keep it from happening again. just glad i can go out and smell the roses and whatever else presents to the nose, feel the temperature and humidity changes, hear the animals and go to and fro in the land. i'm out here waiting for ya to come share it again.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Ouch! I wish you a fast recovery Last Saturday I was riding downtown with a ladyfriend on the back, when an A-hole on a BMW skipped the red light on a crossing and almost hit us, my paranoia always makes me take a look at the side lanes on the middle of crossings, I saw him and had the chance to apply both brakes before being hit from the side
