This had to be the hardest purchase I have made. I have been going back and forth between the Burg and the t100 Bonny for 2 years. Decided I was old enough to come out of the scooter closet and ride in the daylight. The funniest thing about it is, it feels as much like a snowmobile as it does a bike. I never felt that way about my wife's MC54-250b. I was riding it the other day and thought, " I could fall to sleep on this if I'm not careful!" If I would have ridden it before I bought it, I probably would not own it. Maybe warm weather will change that for me.

So, are you saying you don't like the 650 Burgman cause it's too comfortable?

[replyingto=quail]quail[/replyingto]It almost drives itself. It feels like ,"if you fell off it would not really affect the bike a lot". My wife loves the comfort of the rear seat. she told me she could sit there for hours without discomfort. The Roketa is good for an hour or so before she wants off. I guess what I am saying is," I wanted a scooter because my wife's Roketa is a blast to ride. Maybe it's the thrill of near death due to cheap parts traveling 65 MPH. What I bought was a Rolls Royce. As nice as it is , it's no MGA. I think the biggest part of me wishes I would have bought a used one, took the rest of the money and bought a used motorcycle.

Hi quail I too love my MC-54-250B, but if I could I'd love to have a burgnan (400cc) give a chance to grow on you and you will love it

I think I can perfectly relate to what he's saying.
I think what he means is the centrifugal forces on the 650's wheels, with the vibration damping makes you float over the road, rather than rattle apart by the cheap chinese junk he's used to.
The centrifugal forces have many times been said to feel awkward in the beginning, and you generally feel it the most, when you're going from a bicycle, or 10-12" wheeled scooter, to a larger wheeled scooter or motorcycle, esp. at high speeds. There's a small learning curve necessary. You'll get used to it in a few hours of riding. It also makes it possible for a rider to fall off the bike, and the bike would just ride on until it stops, as the centrifugal forces keep the bike steady.
That, and the balanced front wheel, that allows you to ride without hands (save for the throttle).
The centrifugal force, you'll get used to quickly, but the riding comfort is kind of like my new car. I liked feedback from my old car. I knew when I was pushing the engine, when it was revved too low. In my new car, I don't even hear the engine. I don't even hear when it's on or not. That makes the first step very difficult. but after a while you'll learn how your bike behaves, and get used to that as well.
I personally don't like the burgmans, because it's a cvt. I prefer manual gears. Without manual gears, there's no interaction between rider and bike; just throttle. This is the main reason, I believe, why many people return their burgmans. People sometimes don't want the bike to be 'sterile' and 'perfect', but want bikes to have little issues, that they as a rider, need to get around ...
And doing so, you form a bond,
eg: my bike makes a sound when accelerating @4k RPM, in 4th gear. Solution?: Go higher in 3rd, and skip 4th, or go upto 3,5k in 4th, and shift to 5th. Or: My bike's torque peaks at 3,5-4k RPM, so I'll gear according to the torque peak. or: My bike's best MPG is when the engine revs below 2,5K RPM. Solution: I'll shift below 2,5k RPM, but not below 2k rpm, to avoid stalling.
Just a few examples.

COngrats on the purchase, umm, I think? Give it some time, it may grow on you. There are some pics on the web of people riding them in turns at surprising lean angles so even though it feels soft, it is capable of some performance in the turns. Maybe when you get more comfortable with it and throw it into some corners it will be more fun.
My bike has a sporty ride and I consider it fun, but the seat is hard and when you hit a bump the rear end goes WHAM!!!!!. I could do with less "wham".

Hmm, I have a Chinese scoot. (a 250 Znen) and I have yet to have anything "rattle apart" and to quote Ed Norton, "it's smoooth Ralphy boy, smooooth. (of course it does roll on Pirelli tires.)

[replyingto=prodigit]prodigit[/replyingto]I am not sorry I bought it, and I know it is the best scoot out there. It feels like a snowmobile on fresh snow, throttle response and ride. It even sounds the same. The manual shift on this bike is interesting and it makes it a better bike. It seems strange to downshift a scooter though. It corners very well and the Bridgestones will let you grind the kickstand off her if you wish. If the tire slips she will smoke that tire from a stop. You don't feel the road, the wind is not tearing your arms off, and you have to buy bugs if you want them in your teeth. I love to sail and this bike reminds me of my first motor boat, " well shes wide open...now what.

Even if you feel.... Confused? Be sure kit s one of the best ride in the scooter ride for long range dual riders.. With enought power and fun inside to play ,especially with the driven cvt... They are so good that few people mod them for more performance or best confort... I m jealous each time i must give one back to his owner after some work on and a test ride...

I had the same feeling when I bought my TMAX last year. I think what I missed the most was being able to run all day at 3/4 to full throttle and not worry about losing my driving license because I am going 80 to MPH instead of 55 to 65 MPH. It grew on me after a few thousand years. No, not like fungus grows on you!

I'll tell you what...I have a SYM RV250 that I LOVE! However, being the humane person that I am, I will trade you, titile for title, so you can have that "road feel" back and I will take your Burgie and suffer through the pains of getting used to it. I'm a big believer in helping out my fellow man whenever I can!
