You won't go wrong with the Burgman 400. I have a SYM RV250 and a Burgman 400 and I love them both! I am six foot, 260 pounds, and 13 EE size feet. I'm a little cramped on the SYM and better on the Burgie, but wouldn't mind another inch or two to stretch out. I got a great deal on the SYM on Craigs List and was very happy. The problem...availability of parts. I was always worried about taking a long ride and breaking down. Many of the dealers no long carry SYM. The closest one to me was 50 miles away, but they stopped carrying SYM and the closest one now is way over 100 miles away. Now, the Burgie...no problem at all! There is a Suzuki dealer only 19 miles away and the ride there is nice on back country roads. I no longer worry about taking a nice long ride. Besides, the Burgie is almost bullet proof! It's just a darn great bike!

I got a Bestem top box, the biggest one that they make, a liner to go in it, and it has the brake light for my Suzuki Burgman 400. I absolutely love it! It's like a Givi in that you can take off the box and carry it like a suitcase. I believe it's as good as a Givi with a much better price! Very nice people in Tennessee make the Bestem products. Great to deal with.

I am buying a 2011 Burgie 400 ABS, one owner, 2400 miles, 36 month extended warranty, always garaged and never been down and it looks absolutely brand new! They wanted 6100.00 but after some negotiating, we settled on $5500.00. It's just broken in and I am happy with the purchase. In 2011, I bought a 2008 SYM RV250, almost the exact same scenario, same mileage, for $2000.00. 31,000 is a lot of mileage, but the 400 engine will probably go a lot longer as long as it has been properly maintained. I don't know...maybe pass on this one and keep looking for something with a little less mileage.

I love my trunk! Matches my scoot and holds a lot of stuff. I actually think that it adds to the looks of my bike and makes it just that much easier to see. I say go for the trunk!

I used to have one on my Yamaha VStar 1100 that a former girlfriend had given me. Seemed to work pretty good, but when I gave the bike to my son, I just passed it on to him. No one has given me one since I've owned my scoot!

When I was a National Park Ranger on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC, from 1977 to 1985, 99% of the bikers that I came across broken down or that had run off the road, were Harleys! Trying to find parts for them were nearly impossible! Thank goodness, there was a guy in a little town in my jurisdiction that actually made parts for Harleys. Believe me, it wasn't because they were the main bikes on the Parkway either...there were lots of other bikes. Now, I realize that Harleys are probably better today than back then, but I have been in a couple of bike clubs and it seemed that the bikes that were broken down and being worked on whenever we were ready to go on a ride were...yep, Harleys! I'm very glad that we have a bike that is still made in the good old USA and as for the Harley purists...more power to them. I've had Hondas and Yamahas and they were great bikes. The only issues that I had with them were very minor. The best bike that I have ever owned? My current SYM RV250. I'm having more fun with it than anything other than my mini-bike when I was a kid! I never worry about it breaking down. Now, when it comes to getting parts, it will be every bit as hard because the SYM just hasn't really established itself in America. So far, I have only done routine maintenance and made a couple of modifications and have had no problem. I cracked my radiator by running over a block of wood in the middle of the road in a curve, but found a new one and it's all fixed! I love my scoot!

One of the only things that I like about becoming a senior citizen is the attitude that I don't care what people think anymore! When I was young, I cared a great deal and drove big, powerful motorcycles! Well, after years of injuries and surgeries to the knee, shoulder, and neck...my SYM RV250 is fantastic! I'll be 60 next month and I have a lot of aches and pains. I'm at the point that I just can't ride the hogs anymore. Hard to get the leg over, hard to push it around, hard to hold it up...so, what's the alternative? Give up riding...or get into scooting! Since I have gotten my Maxi-Scooter, I have loved it! I actually get compliments on it and some of the hard core riders just say, hey, you're still on two wheels and got the wind in your face! Ride on!

Well, after my step dad re-designed mine for me, I didn't care for it anymore! I'd need something bigger to be buried in...say a nice vintage caddy!

I've ridden in large groups, small groups, and with one other bike (motorcycles), but I've only ridden alone on my scoot. I think it's like most folks have said...there just are not that many scooters around here! The ones I see all ride alone. I saw a large group of maxi-scooters in the local park one day before I bought mine, but I have no idea where they were from. There scoots are what got me interested in one. I don't mind riding alone. I'm an only child and after two failed marriages, I live alone, so I'm used to being by myself. I've tried to talk my best friend into getting one and he would love to have one, but he's afraid of his wife...and she forbids him to get one! LOL! Anyway, It's kind of nice to be able to ride at my own speed, go where I want, do what I want, and just enjoy the solitude of the ride! Oh yeah!

When I went from riding my Yamaha VStar 1100 to my SYM RV250, I felt very awkward at first. Not as stable, the bike was much lighter, I was taller in the saddle, a very different feel. When I bought it, instead of riding it the 50 miles home, I decided to trailer it instead. Although I had been riding for years and been through the motorcycle safety course, I didn't take any chances. Part of the ride would have been on the interstate and a state road that was heavily traveled. Fortunately, I live on paved road that dead ends and is a mile long. Also, I have several subdivisions fairly close to me. I started just riding up and down my little mile long road and the nice wide turn at the end of it gave me really good practice turning right and left. Once I got my nerve up, I rode the approximately three miles to a large subdivision and I really got my scooter skills honed in there. I could ride nice and slow, had plenty of stops and turns, and once I had mastered that subdivision, I rode another couple of miles to another subdivision. This was fun and really helped me get my scooter legs! One thing that I had to concentrate on was re-learning the left lever...not a clutch, but now a brake! I had a few fairly hard stops until my muscle memory took over! No shifting is great! My almost 60 year old body really appreciates the lighter scoot, the stepping through instead of over, and no gears to worry about. Good luck and practice makes perfect!

[replyingto=pmatulew]pmatulew[/replyingto]Nothing middle of the road with scoots from Taiwan! I own a 2008 SYM RV250 and it's one of the best bikes that I have ever owned! Most of my bikes have been the top three motorcycles, the last being a Yamaha VStar 1100. My SYM is right up there with the top three...just not as well known. I have had no issues what so ever except for what I did myself. I hit a large piece of wood that was in the middle of a curve that flew up and cracked my radiator. I was amazed that I didn't go down and very thankful! That has been repaired and other than that, routine maintenance is all that I've done. I put on a bigger windshield, a rack and top box, and deer whistles and the rest is stock. Every time I turn the key, she starts right up and off we go! No sir...I have to say that SYM is absolutely a top notch brand. I've heard nothing but good about the other bikes made in Taiwan, but I have no real experience with them so can't comment. Check out Craig's list and you may come across an amazing deal! That's what I did and got this bike for $2000.00 and it was like new! Only had a little over 2,500 miles on it and was owned by a lady that practiced with it around her subdivision. Her husband bought her a motorcycle so she sold the scoot to me. I've had it for two years now and ride it every chance that I get! I love it!

Man...that sucks! I had a beautiful little Corvair a few years ago, 1966 (I think), white with red interior. A doctor had owned it and had it on blocks for years. I got it with around 28,000 miles. It looked brand new and ran that way too! I loved it. Well...I drove my little car over to my Mom's house for a little visit. My stepfather rolls up with his front end loader tractor, parks it just a couple of feet away from the drivers side of the car, and goes in the garage. He comes back out, and instead of getting on the tractor to start it...he cranks it while standing on the ground. Tractor starts in forward gear, and...yep...SMASH! By the time he got control of the tractor, it had moved the car about three feet and needless to say, the whole side was crushed in...totaled! I was beyond upset! I sold it for parts. Good luck with the scoot!
