Have not named my scoot, but have named me..."Ol Scoot"! Think it would make a nice license plate. Maybe I'll start a new club in the area...the Ol Scoots! Course, that may cut out some of our younger scoots...and there are some out there! LOL

I had a cousin that was a habitual offender, lost his license, then got arrested for DUI on a tractor...on the way to the local store to get another six pack of beer! Some people never learn...and are so addicted to alcohol, that nothing will get their attention. Well, almost nothing. He developed stomach cancer and then had no choice but to stop drinking, but died a very miserable death. Drinking and driving just don't mix...especially on two wheels!

I've had the "Real Bikes" and liked them at the time. When younger, it was the thing to have...big, dressed out, loud...and there were no maxi-scooters! Plus, it made me feel "cool"! Well, now at almost 60 years young, I could care less about being cool and I kinda like being different! What I have found is that most people don't have a clue what it is I'm riding! A lot of people don't realize that they make scooters that big (mine is a SYM RV250). Most people can't believe it when I say I ride a motor scooter! I'm a big guy and in their minds, they are thinking about the 50cc models. I used to do the same thing, not realizing that there were such things as maxi scooters. I realize now that I saw them on occasion, but thought they were some version of a sport bike. Anyway, I love my scooter and don't intend to ever go back to the big, bad motorcycles! I met a couple of Harley riders in the local cemetery, where we were paying our respects to loved ones. I parked where their bikes were parked and we got back to the bikes at the same time. They were interested in my ride and after we talked a little, they gave me a big thumbs up and said, well, at least you're on two wheels with the wind in your face! That's what it's all about! Right on!

Gonna be 70 today and up to 80 by Tuesday! No rain predicted and since I'm retired, I'll be out every day riding and grinning around the Commonwealth of Virginia! Can't wait! It was 60 a couple of days ago and I rode up to my local park and took a nice walk and then back to riding! Love it!

If you could find a SYM RV250 on your local Craigs list, you would have the perfect scoot to learn on and to ride for quite some time! After doing a lot of research, I set out to find a decent used maxi-scooter for a reasonable price. I had ridden lots of different bikes in my life time and my last one was a Yamaha VStar 1100, but due to back, knee, and neck problems, I just couldn't do the big, heavy bikes anymore. I discovered the maxi-scooters in a local park being ridden by senior citizens! I found the perfect bike, a red SYM RV250 approximately 50 miles away. It' only had around 2500 miles, was a 2008, and was owned by a lady that was riding it around in her subdivision, trying to get used to two wheels so that she could progress to a bigger motorcycle and ride with her husband. It was in the winter time when it's a good time to be a buyer, and I was able to get it for $2,000.00. She had kept the maintenance up and the only blemishes were a few scratches where she had dropped to bike once while sitting still. She passed the motorcycle course and her husband had gotten her a new Yamaha VStar 650. I brought the scoot home on a trailer because I was not used to a scooter and didn't want to take a chance riding one on the interstate. It felt a lot different than my motorcycle and took me a little while to get used to it. I did a lot of riding in various subdivisions just to get my feet wet, but once I did...I've never looked back! I have thought about getting a bigger scooter, but the RV250 is so easy to handle and just so much darn fun, that I think I will keep it even if I did get a bigger scoot for longer rides. Anyway, I wish you well and I do encourage you to check out Craigs list as you may luck out the way that I did! By the way, SYM scooters are made in Taiwan and are very reliable bikes. All I have done is routine maintenance. I couldn't be happier!

I pray that it isn't your rotator cuff. I just had that surgery last July and am still recovering from it! It is a long, painful recovery. However, I'm glad that I did it because it is getting better all the time. I'm much better than I was. If you have the surgery, do exactly what your doctor and physical therapist tell you to do...or more specifically, what NOT to do! Many people have had the surgery, but rushed too quickly to get back to normal life, only to screw it up and then you have REAL problems! As far as the center stand is concerned, everyone is right...it takes some practice and Patience and once you get the technique down, it requires little to know muscle. Of course, I'm 59 and not 87! Best of luck and God bless!

I'll tell you what...I have a SYM RV250 that I LOVE! However, being the humane person that I am, I will trade you, titile for title, so you can have that "road feel" back and I will take your Burgie and suffer through the pains of getting used to it. I'm a big believer in helping out my fellow man whenever I can!
