Maybe it is because I am old, but I prefer the old look to my bikes. I do not see much on this or the old board about the retro styled scooters. Why is that? Everyone is young, at least at heart? Or?

I think it's because the retro looking scooters cost more. You get the same engine, but a different body, and it'll increase the price by $500 - $800. I personally really like the retro look myself.

I like the ZNEN V9 ZN150T-F except for it's having front turn signals sticking out on stalks. I'de replace the headlight/handlebar plastic housing with one from a Roketa Sicily which has integral turn signals. ( Mine's the Tank version of the Sicily) I'm sure 12 inch wheels would be better for more top speed and better ride over rough areas than 10 inch'ers.

I do like the Vespa style scooters with a wide body . I know Peace has a 150 like that unsure if they do in a 49cc
A Genuine Stella 150 with manual 4 speed comes in 4T and 2T but you would have to find a used one

Puma and BMS have the Retro/Vintage Boat Tail scooters. I had the Lance (Znen/Puma) and it was ok. Very limited on its capacity compared to the Genuine or Vespa scooters. The Vintage with only a 300 lb rider capacity on a 2 passenger bike is a bit light duty while the Piaggio bikes have mostly a 460+ lb capacity. My Vintage would tend to bottom out a lot even crawling over speed bumps and such with its 10" wheels and light duty suspension. It did look nice and got a lot of compliments however it did tend to catch your knees with the handle bars and be greatly impacted by headwinds that would make you think that you hit something when they caught the wide front end and slowed you down. At speeds over 40 the airflow displaced by the wide front would catch you around the head and shoulders causing a lot of neck strain.
Fuel economy also suffered especially on breezy days where the wide front would be like pushing a barn door around in front of you and drop it to 50 mpg or less. The tiny fuel tank under the floor boards held just about a gallon limiting you to around 50 miles per fill-up. The rear drum brake did little more than stabilize the back of the bike during hard stops but it did help. The rear frame extensions were also a bit weak so that the rear body would stress crack above the passenger pegs due to the flexing there. Some structural liberties were taken to make it more bulky without adding a lot of weight.
It had style but you do pay for it in more ways than just up front costs.

I have the ZNEN version of this scootersus.com/MOTORINORIVIERA150.htmlI mostly ride the 16" wheeled Xingyue. It does have the underfloor fuel tank, and a vacuum operated fuel pump. I am still tinkering to figure out why it seems to starve after a mile of WOT. I upgraded the pump, but haven't really ran it much since then. It is hard to start after sitting for more than a couple days. I need to make sure there is a check valve in the fuel line, in the tank. It rides alright, it is heavy so putting it up on the center stand is not too easy. And it looks decent and a bit retro.

I love my 150cc BMS Palazzo, which is a 'refreshed' Heritage.

We have a retro Sunny scooter. Runs great...not one issue yet so to speak. But it lacks the luggage area our other scoots do....and just to get to the carb or plug on a retro...you have to remove ALL the body panels and in a very systematic way. I love them....they are just difficult to work on as nearly all companies use the same body panel configuration. i.e. % of scoots you can simply remove the seat bucket to get to the engine carb etc. NOT on any of the retros...as I said above EVERY panel must be removed which takes quite a bit of time.

I HAVE been thinking of that style. 12" wheels, longer wheelbase, and stylish. What more could one ask for? What? You expect speed and reliability too? BMC keeps changing the name on that style. "The Milan" kinda gave it a certain Italian feel. Those 16" flat floor models are about the only modern style that I care for, to me a scooter has to have a flat floor for carrying that jug of wine. Not that I am much of a wine drinker, but it fits the scooter image in my imagination. The Stella 4T started me thinking about scooters, but for that kind a price I would buy motorcycle (Suzuki TU250X, specifically). I would really much rather have a manual transmission. Those belts worry me. So, anyway, I get from what folks are saying that the retro look costs more, is heavier, and makes maintenance more difficult?
