For those interested... I emailed Superiorpowersports on March 14 asking when they might again offer Chinese Maxi scooters, having dropped the BMS 260, and then offering for a short time the Roketa equivalent.
The reply I received back from 'Jaime' stated they would be getting the 260 Roketa 62A in 'very soon'.

The DMV sees sedans, SUVs, cross-overs, wagons, sport cars, etc, etc... as motor-vehicles whether manual or automatic regardless of features and horsepower.
Instead of having a different classification for motorcycles, scooters and motor-driven cycles they all should be motor-bikes, not including the moped.
I'd also like to see the 'motorcycle' license renamed a 'motorbike' license with the same safety rules and skills required to own, operate.
With new designs, the line between scooter and motorcycle will blur so why the need for the separate classifications at the DMV and with insurance companies? Seems no longer necessary.

Your best bet is to seek out the scooter forums specifically for the particular make/models you are wondering about. There are plenty, Real owners, real pros and cons and such. I've seen just as many problems mentioned on these brand-specific forums and it should help.

Seems like SPS is phasing out their BMS stock. Offering more SSR and Roketa. The BMS TBX 260 has been replaced with Roketa.

While my BMS 2011 Palazzo has plenty of trunk storage I wanted some easy access storage so I attached a Bell bicycle handlebar bag for my gloves, phone, wallet, keys, etc. Bell Bike BagI also attached a canvas cup/bottle holder to the plastic hook so I have easy access to water too. And, a nifty handlebar clock... handlebar clock

Thanks! I thought for sure this part would be easy to find, given the proliferation of Chinese retro-style scoots.

Any chance anyone knows where I can get this part State-side? I'm not even sure if I am referring to this part by its correct name, just going off the link below. I checked Ebay using the same description but no luck. It was inserted at the end of my retro 150cc scooter CVT cover until it decided to pop out. Here's a link to the item: CVT Cover Air Filter

The seat is beautiful. Really superb work!
Seamus26: Nice to see a shark in the pic! I recently sold my 86.5 after 10 years. Kinda have mixed feelings about letting her go and I still visit rennlist from time to time. Sigh.

need advice

I agree. I don't believe SPS meant to screw up the MCO VIN. They have always been helpful to me but, it can take days to get them to reply or take action.
I thought I had lost my MCO and was in a panic. I called them, paid (Ugh) for a new one and two days later got another MCO in the mail. Then, as can be expected, I found the original.
While not the same as your predicament, they do seem to pull through albeit on the slow side. It's possible another recent scooter buyer has the same problem but with your VIN on their paperwork. SO, it may take some sorting on their part.
It might be helpful to take a close up picture of your VIN plate and email it to them. And, accept that it's going to take some time to get sorted.

I would think the more you do to make yourselves as visible as possible is to your advantage in a court of law.
If injured, or even killed, you showed that you did all you could to make yourself visible. You took responsibility, action, showed a commitment to safe riding; and you aids drivers with they're becoming more aware of riders with your hi-vis gear, lighting mods, etc.
On the other hand, holding the rider responsible for his injury/death for NOT wearing hi-vis gear may actually encourage more careless drivers.
Any lawyers in the house who can comment on what will no doubt become an issue in the future?
