Once you get it started with extra throttle, and it warms up, will it idle then? If so, test your enricher by removing it and jumping the wires to the battery. It should expand within 3-5 minutes at least a 1/4". If it doesn't, take a pic of it so we can try to determine if it's stuck out or in. If it works, on to the next thing to check.
Also, if you hold the throttle barely open, can you get a steady RPM, or does the engine speed rise and fall even when holding the throttle steady? If so, it's most likely a leak in on of the vacuum lines, the intake manifold, or airbox-to-carb tube.

Bloody Tapatalk telling me "You don't have permission to post to this board"
Anyway, how long do I need to hold it for it to be considered "warmed up?" I have to rev the throttle to get it started. If I hold the throttle barely open it dies. I'll test the enricher shortly.

Can you keep it idling, either on it's own or with a steady hand on the throttle (not twisting it, just holding it at some position)? I'm trying to determine if there is a vacuum or other air leak, which is often indicated by a non-steady idle (rising and falling RPMs without touching the throttle).

If I get it going by revving it, I can keep it at or near WOT, but as soon as I let it go below that it dies.

Now I just happened to read the first post that said it was out in the elements for 4 or more months. So do this Open the air box and check inside there may be a nest in there also if not take the air filter out and try to start it without the air filter in the air box or just leave the cover off. Lets see if giving it more air helps it.

Air intake was clear. No change in trying with the cover off.

Weather has been interesting since yesterday. I will try to test the enricher later today after classes and work.

This is not making sense to me but I am not there. So lets try this:
Take the Air Tubing off the carb and Use your hand to ALMOST cover the air inlet on the carb and see if it stays running or runs better or worse. This will tell us if it NEEDS MORE OR LESS fuel. Alleyoop

It dies before I can get it started and get my hand down there. I had a roommate help and it made no difference. I can't tell if the choke is working because I don't have alligator clips to clip inside the plug to test. It's still starting, trying to idle up, then dying.

Ok take the enricher off only two screws and look at the plunger and tell me which one of the pictures below it looks like #1 or #2: THEN Cover the hole with your thumb and try and start the motor and see if it stays running covering the hole with your thumb. #1: #2:

I wonder if the slide is stuck...maybe the slide is not opening and allowing the needle to rise in the main to take fuel? Just a thought...

The main has nothing to do with starting and idling, that is all up to the pilot jet and enricher. Alleyoop

It looks like #1. It does the same thing with my thumb over the hole.

Well that is good It should look like #1 when cold and should be feeding fuel to the motor in the retracted mode. with the enricher out and covering the hole it should feed extra fuel like the enricher would. But apparently that is not enough so I think the pilot jet and or its passages are clogged. I cannot remember but have you taken the carb off and cleaned out the jets and the pilot jet passages and make sure the tiny holes by the butterfly are clear? Alleyoop

I've done that twice over, but I'm wondering if maybe there was something in the fuel hose or something that I missed that clogged them back up. I'll pull it back apart and check when I get a chance and let you know.
Side note: thank you for being so patient with me. I really do appreciate it. I know how tempting it can be to just say, "Take it to a shop. I don't want to deal with you anymore, newbie."
